Introduction to PhD Student Supervisors at the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering
Chen Yixue
Chen Yixue, male, was born in December 1972 of Han nationality. He earned his doctorate of engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. He is now professor and PhD student supervisor at the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, North China Electric Power University.
Professor Chen Yixue is mainly engaged in teaching and research in nuclear science and engineering, and he has delivered lectures on Physical Analysis ofNuclear Reactor, Nuclear Reactor Principles, and Monte Carlo Method and Application in Nuclear Science. In the fields of physical analysis methods of nuclear reactors, advanced radiation shielding calculation and source terms calculation analysis, nuclear software research and development, and advanced nuclear system research, he has undertaken national large and key advanced pressurized water reactor projects, special projects under the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, projects under the “863” Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, key science and technology projects of the Ministry of Education, other national science and technology projects and many horizontal scientific research projects.
Professor Chen has published more than 100 papers in Chinese and foreign core journals with over 50 collected by SCI and over 40 by EI. He was ever selected as a candidate for the Beijing New Science and Technology Nova Program in 2007, for the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of Beijing City in 2010 and for the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education in 2011. In addition, he is an expert of the Advanced Simulation Working Group for the Generation IX International Forum (GIF) and Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory for Energy and Nuclear Power Software. He has cultivated many doctor and master degree candidates.

Lu Daogang
Lu Daogang, male, was born in August 1965 of Han nationality. He is a doctor of engineering from University of Tokyo, and now professor and PhD student supervisor at the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, North China Electric Power University.
Professor Lu Daogang is committed to teaching and scientific research on nuclear power and power engineering, and he has lectured on Engineering Thermal Analysis of Nuclear Reactor and Nuclear Power Systems and Equipment. In fields such as security analyses of nuclear reactor systems, thermohydraulics of nuclear reactor and structural mechanics of nuclear reactor, he has taken charge of national major science and technology projects on “large-scale advanced pressurized water reactors”, projects under the National “973” Program and “863” Program and projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Professor Lu has won the Third Prize for the National Award for Science and Technology Progress in Defense, and published more than 100 papers in Chinese and foreign significant journals. In December 2002, he was rated as a Young and Middle Aged Scholar with Outstanding Contributions in the Defense-related Science, Technology and Industry, and in 2010, he obtained the special government allowance from the State Council. Currently, he is also a member of the Nuclear Safety and Environment Experts Committee of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and editorial board member of the journals Atomic Energy Science and Technology and China Nuclear Power. Professor Lu has trained many doctor and master degree students.

Niu Fenglei
Niu Fenglei, male, was born in April 1971 of Han nationality. He is a doctor of the University of California-Berkeley in the United States, and now a professor and PhD student supervisor at the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, North China Electric Power University.
Professor Niu Fenglei devotes himself to teaching and research in the field of nuclear power and power engineering, and he has given undergraduates and graduates lessons on AP1000 Nuclear Power Stations, Safety Analysis of Nuclear Reactor, and Theoretical Basis for Nuclear Reactor. In the discipline of thermalhydraulics of nuclear reactor and nuclear materials, he has directed breeding projects of major scientific programs funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, national major special subprojects regarding large-scale advanced water reactor nuclear power stations, scientific research projects at the provincial or ministerial level, and many cooperation projects entrusted by scientific research institutions.
He has published more than 50 academic papers and technical reports in the fields of ADS, the third generation pressurized water reactor (PWR) and boiling water reactor (BWR), the high temperature gas cooled reactor, fast reactor, nuclear materials, coolant technology and advanced nuclear fuel cycle, with over 20 collected by SCI and EI. In addition, he has been granted with 2 invention patents with himself as the first inventor. Moreover, he was ever selected as a candidate for the “New Century Excellent Talents Support Program” of the Ministry of Education. Professor Niu has cultivated many doctor and master degree candidates.

Ouyang Xiaoping
Ouyang Xiaoping, male, was born in January 1961 of Han nationality. With a doctorate in particle physics and nuclear physics from Fudan University, he is now a part-time professor at the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, North China Electric Power University, and Assistant Chief Engineer, researcher and PhD student supervisor of the Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology.
Professor Ouyang Xiaoping has been working on technical study on pulsed neutron diagnosis and related diagnosis. He has completed a dozen of major scientific research projects and achieved a series of pioneering achievements. For example, he has successively created 3 significant neutron parameter diagnosis methods and successfully developed more than 20 advanced pulsed radiation detection systems, forming a unique neutron detection system. For his brilliant achievements, Professor Ouyang has been awarded with 5 national science and technology progress awards and national technology invention awards, 5 first prizes for the science and technology progress award at the provincial or ministerial level with one more already passing assessment and 3 second prizes, and granted with 26 national invention patents. For the time being, he is engaged in exploratory research with CVD diamond as the radiation detector, study on subnanosecond pulsed radiation detectors and research on high n/g resolution collector-type fusion neutron in research and exploration of advanced pulsed radiation detection technology, which has achieved substantive progress. Such research will also play an important role in comprehensively improving the research level of China in related fields. Currently, he is a supervisor for 8 doctor and master degree candidates.
Professor Ouyang has also won the awards of the First “Shaanxi Science and Technology Award for the Youth”, First Prize of the China Guanghua Science and Technology Foundation, the 5th “Science and Technology Award for Chinese Youth”, and “Truth Seeking” Award for Distinguished Youth (Practical Engineering Award) of the China Association for Science and Technology; and he has also been conferred the honorary title of “National Excellent Science and Technology Worker” by the China Association for Science and Technology.

Wang Zhigang
Wang Zhigang, male, was born in February 1973 of Han nationality. Having obtained his doctorate in theoretical physics from the University of Science and Technology of China, he is now professor and PhD student supervisor at the School of Mathematical and Physical Science, North China Electric Power University.
Professor Wang Zhigang is mainly engaged in teaching and research in the fields of quantum field theory, particle physics and characteristics of nuclear material, and has lectured on College Physics, College Physics Experiment, Electrodynamics, Quantum Field Theory and Gauge Theory for undergraduates and postgraduates. He has been a manuscript reviewer for many journals on physics, and published more than 90 papers on Chinese and foreign leading physics journals like Phys. Rev. D, Phys. Lett. B, Eur. Phys. J.C, Eur. Phys. J.A, Nucl. Phys. A, J.Phys. G, Chin. Phys. Lett and Commun. Theor. Phys., which have been quoted for more than 900 times.
Landmark achievements: his research on decay constants of D meson [Z. G. Wang, W. M. Yang, S. L. Wan, Nucl. Phys. A744 (2004) 156] has been quoted for many times by the internationally renowned particle data group CLEO Collaboration. Furthermore, he has directed 3 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and projects sponsored by the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education.

Zhou Tao
Zhou Tao, male, was born in March 1965 of Han nationality. He obtained his doctorate in nuclear energy and thermal energy from Xi’an Jiaotong University and completed his postdoctoral research on engineering thermophysics in Tsinghua University. Currently, he is professor and PhD student supervisor at the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, North China Electric Power University.
Professor Zhou Tao has been devoted to teaching and research on nuclear energy and thermal energy engineering, and he has given undergraduates and postgraduates lessons on Safety Analysis of Advanced Nuclear Reactor, System and Equipment for Nuclear Power Plant, Thermal Engineering Analysis of Nuclear Reactor and Physical Protection against and Instrument for Nuclear Radiation. In research fields including thermal hydraulics of nuclear reactor, safety of nuclear power station, removal of inhalable particles and environmental protection, standards for nuclear power stations and reliability analyses, Professor Zhou has undertaken 3 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 projects funded by the National “973” Program, 1 project aided by the Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education of China, 1 project funded by Beijing Natural Science Foundation, 1 project subsidized by the PLA General Armament Department Key Foundation, 1 project assisted by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, 3 projects financed by the National Key Laboratory Foundation and many horizontal scientific research projects. Additionally, he has also taken charge of 1 excellent course of the university and 2 teaching reform projects.
Professor Zhou has won the first prize and second prize for the science and technology progress award at the provincial or ministerial level once respectively; he has published more than 100 academic papers in Chinese and foreign core journals with over 80 collected by SCI and EI; and he has also issued 1 textbook as the editor-in-chief under the “Twelfth Five-year Plan” and 3 textbooks as an editor. Moreover, he has also published more than 30 papers on education and teaching research, which have been printed by the China Education Daily, Ideological and Political and copy materials of the Renmin University of China. He ever won the Invention and Patent Gold Award of Beijing City in 2013. In addition to his teaching and research posts at North China Electric Power University, he is also holding concurrent posts including a member of the Steering Committee for Teaching of Nuclear Engineering and Technology in Universities and Colleges of the Ministry of Education, nuclear power expert of the National Energy Administration, review expert of the Ministry of Education and foundations, specialist of the Experts Guidance Committee of the “653 Program” of the electric power industry, review expert for national and Beijing science and technology awards, bidding review expert of the National Information Security Engineering Center, academic member of the National Key Laboratory for Bubble Physics and Natural Circulation, professor of Xi’an Jiaotong University Suzhou Academy, and Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Alumni Association of Xi’an Jiaotong University. He was ever Chairman for review meetings on “Standards for Control of Hydrogen Concentration in Nuclear Reactor Containment after Accident of Nuclear Power Station”. Professor Zhou possesses more than 10 national invention patents, and he has cultivated many doctor and master degree candidates.
