Topic Ideas:
Students will be asked to choose a musician to research using NPR’s 50 Great Voices website.

Learning Outcomes: What should the student be able to do?
Identify options: Library Session #1. Distinguish kinds of information, their purposes, and tools to find them.
Select sources: Library session #2. Generate search terms and search strategies; Research topics.
Evaluate: Library session #3. Evaluate sources using provided evaluation criteria.
Present findings: - Develop Research Guide (including source citations) following specific guidelines. Create PPT presentation and present.

Activity: How will the student learn?

By attending three library instruction sessions: 1) The Information Cycle 2) Database Searching 3) Evaluating Information

By completing worksheets that support and reinforce instruction and test IL skills

Through in-class activities, discussions and hands-on practice time

By analyzing and organizing their research information for their Research Guide and by presenting the material to their classmates

Demonstration of learning: What will the student do to show what they have learned?
Students will demonstrate what they have learned through class discussions, IL skills worksheets and by completing and submitting a Research Guide and a PowerPoint Presentation/Tegrity Recording.

Criteria: How do you know the student has done this well?
Information Literacy skills exercises will be evaluated using the PILR rubric. WASSAIL pre and post-tests linked to two library sessions will be administered. The PowerPoint and student presentation will be graded with a rubric specifically tailored to the assignment.
