Access to the Internet, a global network of public and private computers, increases availability of resources and provides access to information beyond materials in the Pioneerland Library System.
All Pioneerland Library System libraries provide at least one computer with unrestricted access to the Internet. Some Pioneerland Library System libraries provide both restricted and unrestricted computer access to the Internet. The provision of access does not imply sponsorship or endorsement of Internet sites or of activities in violation of state or federal laws.* Pioneerland Library System assumes no responsibility for direct or indirect results of access to the Internet through our system. Parents and guardians are responsible for their child’s use of the Internet.
The Pioneerland Library System does not guarantee the accuracy of information available on the network. It is the responsibility of the user to evaluate information found on the Internet. Since electronic information is constantly changing and expanding, sources on the Internet may not provide complete or current information.
The American library Association policy on “Access to Electronic Information, Services, and Networks: An Interpretation of the Library Bill of Rights” is part of this policy.
Library patrons must not interfere with the use of the Internet or computers by other patrons.
Library patrons should be discreet and considerate of others when viewing material.
Patrons must check with public library staff before accessing internet and when completed.
One computer allowed per library card.
One visit per day allowed on computers. Exceptions may be made at the librarian’s discretion. (school work, reference work, research)
Patrons using the internet must have basic computer operating skills.
Public library will provide basic instruction for accessing the Internet as time allows.
Use is limited to 30 minutes at a time. The time limit may be extended at the librarian’s discretion. Patrons must abide by time limits set by individual libraries. Computers will be shut down 10 mins before closing.
