Shore Bird with crew…all 4 of them! Tuesday 6/18: Destination: Chesapeake City in the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal Up at 0600 making coffee. Patience rigged the Coleman camp stove and shared steak and eggs, while “green eggs and ham” were being prepared aboard Shoveller. Broke the raft-up at 0730 headed outbound and north. Winds light from the south, so we were on engine but with a fair tide. All cats ahead and behind with sails up. Mystic Wind heading home. As we headed north, sighted a Nonsuch 26 and Winter’s Dream, a CCBA trailer sailor who had launched on and came out of the Bohemia River. We were abeam Turkey Point by 1030 and doused sail in the vicinity of the lower range tower at about 1130. Running with the tide and no commercial traffic in sight we were docked at the floating public dock in Chesapeake City at 1230. We were joined by Encore, a Compac Eclipse owned by former catboat sailor Pete McCrary, who had launched on the Elk River.
