Self healing, self optimizing, self configuring, self securing… IBM Self-Managing Autonomic Technology

Text roll: It’s real… It’s here today

Text roll : What is Autonomic Computing

Text fade in next to Dave’s picture: Dave Bartlett , Director of Autonomic Computing

Dave: Autonomic computing is all about IBM and its business partners working across the industry to reduce complexity and deliver self-managing systems.

Text roll: Self-Managing Autonomic Technology is not just for large companies

Autonomic computing, in addition to delivering real value to the large enterprise space, is delivering real value to the small and medium enterprise space. We do this by working across our IBM product line and aggressively, with our business partners,

Chris: When we looked at the range of technologies that we could bring into partnership with us, we found IBM’s autonomic computing initiative to be the best way to let our customers reduce their cost of offering services.

Text Roll: IBM’s Self-Managing Autonomic Technology enhances your solution

Chris: IBM’s autonomic computing technology helped us get to market six to eight months faster, with a very competitive solution that lets our partner analyze the data from their customers so that they can be monitoring the networks of small and medium businesses
Text Roll: Get to market faster

Chris: The autonomic computing team helped us get to market faster in really three main ways.

Text Roll: Technology

Number one, access to great technology,

Text Roll: Enablement

Number two, access to physical resources, testing labs, the innovation center in San Mateo, where business partners can come in and actually test deployment on IBM machinery as they’re taking product to market,

Text Roll: Marketing Support

and then finally, when we get to the go-to-market phase, PR, analyst relations, just great marketing leverage

Text Roll: The Challenge... .. “Cost effective delivery of services to the small and medium business”
Victor: Our clients are installing increasingly complex IT environments. They’re becoming more reactive as opposed to proactive in their approach, which is causing more down time for their systems.

Victor: When we started looking into monitoring solutions and providing outsourcing services, we quickly found that we could not scale any better than our clients could, as far as managing this inflow of data into our network operations center. Singlestep subsequently gave us the ability to collect information, correlate it into a single format, and then provide automated processes and escalation procedures that would allow us to scale our solution.

Text Roll: “Teaming with Singlestep and IBM allowed us to build service that are affordable to the small and midsize market”
We’re able to provide proactive services, as opposed to relying on reactive responses to crises. We’ve been able to deliver automated responses and escalation procedures that never were available in the small and mid-size market space.

Victor: The ability to have systems that are self-healing, to have systems that allow us to react without human intervention is almost a dream come true. It allows us to deliver opportunities and services to our customers that before we never thought we could do. And in this growing arena of tight budgets and even harder to find technical talent, the ability to automate processes is critical for the growth of the IT infrastructure.

Text Roll: Teaming with IBM to lower customers’ total cost of ownership.

Chris: LAN Solutions face the problem of cost-effective delivery of service to their customers.

We found the ability to harness IBM’s autonomic computing, along with our product, gave LAN Solutions the ability to reduce the number of events that they needed to respond to personally,
