1. Even if immigrant students are gifted and talented they are still treated differently. In school Nguyen was one of the smartest kids, but she did not receive the same rewards as the other kids. However, Mrs. King treated Nguyen and the other students equally.
2. It makes you wonder if the whole story is entirely accurate because she was a little kid when she experienced all of this so her memory is probably a little fogged. Moreover,
I still think Nguyen is a credible source because she is talking about her personal experiences that occurred when she was a child. Nguyen establishes the reader's trust and shows her credibility when she mentions all of the names of our past teachers and classmates; hearing all of these names establishes my trust because it makes me believe her memory is as good as it sounds and I can trust what she is saying.
