We all use the Internet, and many of us take it for granted, but let’s remember its original purpose. When Al Gore invented the Internet it was a means for government and universities to share information – to communicate – to collaborate.

The following things are some of what makes the Web such a great collaborative tool.

  • The Web never closes

      • no lunch hours, no vacation, no quitting at 5o’clock

      • disparity in working hours doesn’t hamper communication

  • The Web is everywhere

  • There is no more efficient or faster way to distribute information

    • Any file posted is available instantly, everywhere

    • Latest information posted

    • No need to distribute updates or corrections

    • There are no limits to size of documents posted

    • There are no delivery delays

    • Your mouse is your remote

    • Surfing is active, email is passive
