MOFA: China Urges Japan to Free Crews Detained Near Diaoyu Islands China says it opposes the way Japan is handling the Chinese fishing boat incident. Two Japanese patrol boats collided with a Chinese fishing boat in waters off the Diaoyu Islands in the East China sea earlier this week. No injuries were reported from the collision, but the fishing boat was intercepted by Japanese patrol boats. The Japanese Coast Guard arrested the captain handed him to local prosecutors yesterday. Russia's leaders condemn the bombers in Vladikavkaz A suicide bomber has set off a powerful blast near a busy market in Russia's North Caucasus, killing at least 16 people and wounding dozens. The attacker detonated a bomb packed with metal bars, bolts and ball bearings in a car outside the entrance to the market in the provincial capital of North Ossetia. North Ossetia police said the car blown up came from Ingushetia. President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered his envoy to the North Caucasus to fly to the region. "What has happened is the latest outbreak of the criminal activity of bandits with whom there can be no compromise, no truce." At least 50 people were killed in a bomb blast at the same market in 1999, the year the Kremlin launched its second attempt to drive separatists from power in Chechnya. Pastor Budges on Plan to Burn Quran to Mark Ninth Anniversary of 9/11 The minister of a Florida church has canceled plans to burn copies of the Quran to mark the ninth anniversary of September 11th terrorist attack. The decision was made after the leader of a much-opposed plan to build an Islamic Center near ground zero agreed to move its location. Imam Mahamoud Musri with the Islamic Society of Central Florida say they will fly to New York for relocation of the project. "Let me rephrase that the deal that Jones cancelling the event, in exchange we will go to New York to meet the Imam in charge of the project to ask for that to be relocated to a more ideal location." Pastor Terry Jones said instead of his plan to burn the books on Septmeber 11th he will fly to New York to speak to Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf about moving the mosque. Tehran to free one of three Americans in holiday clemency Iran's envoy to the United Nations has confirmed that a female American will be released to mark the holidays at the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. However their families say that the three were only hiking in the region. Their detention has become entangled in the confrontation between the United States and Iran. Senior Chinese commander calls for strengthening military cooperation with Kazakhstan A Senior Chinese military commander says China and Kazakhstan will enhance their military cooperation in an effort to ensure regional security. Chen Bingde met with Saken Zhasuzakov, Kazakhstan's first deputy defense minister, as joint anti-terrorism drills between the two countries get underway. Named 'The Peace Mission 2010', the drills will focus on combating extremism, separatism and terrorism in the region. They continue until September 25th. Gift-free Teachers' Day proposal hotly debated The practise of gift-giving on Teachers Day, which is marked today in China, is being hotly debated this year: 10 schools have submitted a proposal calling on teachers to refuse money and gifts from students or their parents. More than 6000 people have commented on the proposal, which has been published on the Ministry of Education website. Some applaud the proposal, while others say gifts are necessary to ensure their children are treated fairly at school.
