Using the computers in Roger Bacon 3rd floor labs
All computers located on the third floor of Roger Bacon are connected to the server Turing. When you need to work on your lab material outside of your scheduled lab session you may use the CS open lab (RB-350), other computers on campus connected to the Siena network, or remotely sign-on to Turing from off campus.

Mapping a Drive to a CS Student Account on Turing
for use from other campus locations (Dorms, Library, etc.)
If you use computers outside the ones found on the 3rd floor of Roger Bacon you will need to map a drive to Turing in order to access your lab files. This can be accomplished by following the steps below:
From any computer on campus:
1. Open Windows Explorer.
Here are three suggested methods to do this:
Method 1 --
Select Start, Run, type the word Explore, press ENTER.
Method 2 --
Right-click the Start button, select Explore
-
Select tools from the menu-bar. Click Map Network Drive from the drop-down menu.
-
S
Type your username here
elect a drive letter (we will use N for "Network")
4. In the "Folder" field type: \\turing.cs.siena.edu\username
If the above step doesn’t work you can type the on-campus IP address for Turing:
\\192.168.0.108\username
Check the "Reconnect at logon" checkbox to add the check mark. Your screen should look similar to the display to the left.
-
Click Finish
-
A dialog box will pop up. This dialog box will prompt you for your Turing username and password.
Example for returning student Peter Jones:
username: turing.cs.siena.edu\spj6789
password: ppj123456789
Note: Enter your user name as specified above.
-
Be sure to check the “remember password” box!
8. After a moment a window displaying the contents of the N: drive will appear in the Explorer window.
You may also access the N: Drive under "My Computer."
