We are honored and humbled to announce that Sentio, Global Education Network received two awards last week: 2016 Best Recruiter Association award for at the Canadian Premier International Education Awards (CPIEA). Sentio received this award “for a commitment to their members and a collective responsibility towards the international students they serve”. One day later, Sentio also received the 2016 Best Education Abroad Provider award at the World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC). WYSTC aims to celebrate the outstanding performers within the youth, student and educational travel industry and act as a benchmark for excellence within this fast-growing sector.

David Chapman, Director General of WYSE Travel Confederation shared that “Not only do young people continue to travel during difficult times, but the agencies and organizations helping them also continue to offer new products and services that meet the needs of young travellers.”
Sentio, is a non-profit org, focusing on offering intercultural learning opportunities to create a more just and peaceful world. One of our latest innovations is the Global Competence Certificate, a state of the art educational program, that guides participants before, during and after their program to reflect and interact with peers on questions such as cultural identity, power, and privilege.
Sentio believes that international mobility is great and every young person should spend some time in a new cultural environment in one way or another. But Sentio also believes that international mobility with proper global competence programming, including cultural adjustment, is better. That is what we, and our 46 member organizations around the world, stand for.
Our international programs offer what young adults are looking for with opportunities across the 5 continents and 35 countries where we work. Our programs are designed to give participants a clear advantage in their journey for personal and professional growth; skills that they can use both at home and around the world. “Employability” is one of our key terms. Whether you are abroad studying, volunteering, or interning in your chosen field, you will gain practical knowldge, learn language and communication skills, and become more confident and competent in any cross-cultural setting. From China to Switzerland, South Africa, Colombia or Canada, many corporations, universities, and NGO’s value these global skills.
Sentio, the Global Education Network, was founded in 2014 as a full subsidiary of AFS Intercultural Programs. AFS has existed 69 years as an exchange organization and is successfully creating exchange programs and intercultural learning opportunities for close to 13,000 participants each year, coming from about 100 countries, with 60 offices globally. We currently have 500,000 alumni, supported by a volunteer network of 40,000 AFS volunteers. Building on this strong foundation, Sentio is expanding into the market for programs for people older than 18 to study, volunteer, intern, teach, or learn language abroad. Sentio collaborates with the AFS network, and also steps outside to join forces with other high quality recruiters and providers of programs abroad. We now have 1,100 participants who travel on our programs each year, with an average length of 8 months per participants and a growth of 9% last year, and we hope to continue expanding our reach in the coming years.
