When calling the Wisconsin State Bar LRIS, callers hear this message before speaking to a legal assistant: Thank you for contacting the Lawyer Referral Service of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. If you would like to hire a Wisconsin attorney to represent you, please stay on the line and in just a moment you can speak to a legal assistant who will assess your situation and do a referral if appropriate. When you are given a referral, your first half hour consultation will cost no more than 20 dollars. After the first 30 minutes, the attorney will charge their regular rates. Our office does not make referrals for low cost or pro bono legal work. If you prefer, you may receive the name of an attorney through our website, legalexplorer.com.
