Elephants have very unique physical characteristics. In fact, the African elephant is the largest living mammal. Out of all of the features on an elephant, the trunk is perhaps the most helpful and extraordinary. The trunk serves as a nose, a hand, an extra foot, a signaling device, and it is used as a tool to help gather food. Like when elephants want to get a drink of water, they use their trunks to drink instead of their mouth. Young elephants must learn how to draw water up their trunks and pour it into their mouths. Also, if the elephant wants to get something to eat and cannot reach the leaves that they want from a tree, they can use their trunks to reach and grab the leaves and put them in their mouth. The tusks are also a magnificent feature of the elephant. They are found on both male and female elephants. Elephants have a favorite tusk out of the two that they have. The tusk that is favored more, the elephant uses more. Tusks differ in size, shape, and angles. As a matter of fact, researchers can identify individual elephants from the shape, size, and angle of the elephant’s tusks. The elephant can mostly live in any place that meets their standards of living, which is not that much. Usually, all of the things that elephants need in order to live in that habitat consist of food and water, which is mostly just grass and browse. Elephants consume about 5% of their body weight and drink 30-50 gallons of water per day. They eat an extremely varied vegetarian diet including grass, leaves, twigs, tree bark, fruit and seed pods. Elephants rarely live alone. They like to live and travel in groups like many other animals. Sometimes elephant herds consist of more than 50 elephants per pack. However, the grown, strong male elephants usually live alone. They do not live or travel with any elephants. The only time that they are with other elephants is during September and October, which is the mating season. This is called mada kipeema meaning “need to mate.” Unlike a lot of other groups of packs, the oldest female is the leader of the herd. This animal has a very important job. She has to take care of everything, and has a lot of duties such as guiding the herd to food, shelter, and protecting the herd from any danger that might be ahead. She also protects the babies from any danger and analyze how they are cared for to see if they are being properly cared for. Elephants are very unique animals to study and research about. They are still one pf the most magnificent animals in the world to me.

Scoring a goal came from rugby, it wasn’t just random. Football got its name from kicking a ball with your foot. When football got to the United States back in 1820, the first National Football League (NFL) game was played in 1895. Not many penalties were called because it was newer, and it was believed to be tough or a hard hitting sport. In the 1920’s, it was mandatory to wear a uniform if they were going to play. Instead of using football for a spectator sport, some places used it for military training. Obviously, their purpose of the game was a little different than ours is. There were other football games that were played in Japan, Greece, and Rome. Their names were not football however. Japans game was called Kemari. In Greece the game was called Pheninda. The game Romans played was called Harpastum. Going back to early American football, rules were finalized in the 1800’s. In 1801, people agreed on the field length. I bet you didn’t know that, the crossbar (where you kick the ball through) length is 18 feet tall and 10 feet high. This was established in 1875. I would also like to say since 1870 the teams had to have 11 people from on the field. An interesting fact that most people don’t know is that football aren’t made of pig skin like most people say. It really is made of leather, but it used to be made out of animal skin or it was stuffed with animal’s fur, which I think is a lot nicer. If they aren’t using the animals for anything else like just killing them for the football, then that is really mean, but if they used the animal for food or what ever then that would make it a little but nicer. During the prehistoric age, there was a form of early chewing gum. They chewed tree resin. Just like the Native Americans, they also chewed resin. The Mayas chewed chicle, which was later perfected by adding a candy coating. Henry Fleer called them Chiclets. Before that, in 1880, gum makers were experimenting with the sapodilla tree resin. With experimentation, Frank Fleer created the first bubble gum called blibber blubber, but he never marketed or perfected it, so it soon failed. The Curtis Brothers sold the first to sell chewing gum from tree resin. They perfected it by adding sugar and paraffin. Thomas Adams was the first person to sell flavored gum – it was licorice flavored. It was called Black Jack. He was the first person to sell it in sticks not chucks. He also invented the gumball machine to keep up with the orders.

Hannah Montana, also known as Miley Cyrus, is a pop sensation loved across the nation. She has her own television show in Disney Channel called, “Hannah Montana” about a teenager living a double life; regular teenager Miley Steward by day but pop star Hannah Montana by night. Miley has to keep her secret limited between close friends and family or else her life may be exposed or ruined. Young Miley Cyrus is really named Destiny Hope Cyrus, but when Miley was younger, her father nicknamed her that because she was always smiling and always had a smile on her face and she truly loves each minute of her life. She was born on November 23rd, 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee. Her parents Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia Cyrus raised her on a small country side farm in Nashville. Miley Cyrus has 2 older half-brothers, an older half-sister, a younger brother, and also a younger half-sister named Noah who is also an actress who has appeared on some “Hannah Montana” shows. Miley attended Heritage Middle School, but currently has her own private tutor. Miley Cyrus started her acting career at the young age of 9 when she and her family moved to Toronto, Canada where she secured a contract to play a girl named Kylie on her father, Billy-ray Cyrus’ television show. Soon after at the age of 11, Miley auditioned for the role of Hannah Montana and was chosen for it at age 12. The show was expected to be a big hit and now that is proved to be true. Miley is now happily and busily recording new songs and taping shows for her growing fans. She is great friends with her two co-hosts Emily Osment (Lily) and Michel Musso (Olivier) playing Miley’s two best friends in the show. She is also close friends with Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale both singers and actresses also. Miley/Hannah Montana is a great pop and country singer. Many say she takes after her father, Billy-Ray Cyrus also a fantastic country singer. He also stars on the show “Hannah Montana” playing Miley’s father and Hannah Montana’s manager. This very talented young teenage girl gets a lot of publicity from both the show and concerts. She has opened for the Cheetah Girls on 20 dates of their 39 state U.S. tour. Miley’s first audio CD was released on October 24th, 2006. She is now the youngest artist ever to have 2 number 1 albums within a year. Also, on many occasions in her Best of Both Worlds tour concerts; many of them were completely sold out due to loving and adoring fans. She has written over 100 songs, some of which have been used on Hannah Montana. Miley Cyrus is a great role model that many kids look up to and is a very talented actress and singer and probably will continue to be for many years to come.
