LHD Vending Systems unveils its new logo
As can be seen in the header of this issue, LHD Vending Inc. has modernized its logo and name to express the company’s true identity and purpose. I know many of you have gone through this exercise within your organizations and realize the pain it takes to finally come to a conclusion. We’d like to thank all those organizations that participated with their valuable opinions on our survey, which ultimately helped lead us to this decision.
To Our New Friends
During the past several months we’ve had the opportunity to visit with a host of customers across the country installing the HD1400. During these visits we have spent the majority of our time conducting training sessions with management, supervisors, mechanics and route men on the operation of the HD1400 as well as visiting the account locations and getting to know our new friends.
I’d like to thank all of you for your professionalism, attentiveness, support and, most of all, your precious time. We are extremely excited about our future and it’s organizations like yours that will be a principal factor to our success.
Thank You, Leon Leykin

Great News from Lee Comstock, VP of Manufacturing
During the 2004 NAMA National Expo in Chicago this past October, LHD Vending Systems had the opportunity to meet with Rick Ivy, President of Preferred Packaging of Norcross, GA. Preferred Packaging is one of the largest manufacturers of packaging equipment and products for the food service/vending industry.
LHD presented Preferred Packaging with a challenge to investigate a method to package bun trays for the HD1400 efficiently, quickly and in large quantities. Also the solution should be applicable to existing commissary-packaging equipment. Rick believed that, with some research and development, it would be relatively straightforward to convert a standard heat-sealing machine for use in automatically packaging the bun trays. This would allow most commissaries to utilize existing equipment to provide packaged buns for the HD1400 with a much improved productivity rate.
Research proved that the standard chain drives used on most equipment provided the proper spacing for the packaged buns. Also by removing the knives that typically cut the film, Preferred Packaging produced the “web” effect required for the HD1400 bun dispensing system. Preferred Packaging then developed custom “pockets” that would fit on one of their machines and match the patented LHD Vending Systems bun tray.
The ultimate test came when Preferred Packaging packaged the bun trays and LHD tested them in the HD1400. Perfecto! Worked like a charm.
Thanks to Rick and the staff at Preferred Packaging it will be possible to provide the packaged bun solution to vending and commissary operators that will be efficient, quick and extremely productive.
