Affirmative Criteria The affirmative has the privilege of either focusing on the large by taking a criterion of National Equality or the very small by focusing on Likelihood of Catastrophe. (By small, I mean that the focus is on humans rather than their collective organizations) Because the two debates are very different, you may wish to prepare both in connection with your chosen value to run against debaters depending on their strengths. You especially donʼt want to feed into an opponents negative argument if you know they will choose one criterion or another, so it helps to already beset up to rebut that argument.
