COURSE OUTCOMES
At the end of the course the student will be able to

  1. List the need for data warehousing and Data Mining.

  2. Comprehend the concepts of Data and its pre-processing Techniques.

  3. Apply Unsupervised learning techniques – Association, Clustering to generate data features

  4. Apply supervised learning techniques- Classification and regression to generate data features.

  5. Analyse the data mining techniques to real world data mining applications.

Data Modelling Concepts: Introduction to Data Modelling – Data-Centric Design , Anatomy of a Data Model , Layers of Data Abstraction , Types of Data Models
Importance of Data Modelling- Documentation of Business Rules Measures of good data model – Enforcement of Business Rules ,Data models fit into Application Development – Process orientated methodologies ,Data-oriented and object-oriented methodologies, and agile methodologies
Unit – II
Relational Model Components: Conceptual and logical model components – Entities, Attributes , Relationships ,Business Rules
Physical Model Components – Tables, Columns and Data Types , Constraints ,Integrity Constraints and Views


Unit –III
Data and Processing Modelling: Data Model Diagramming Alternatives –ERD Formats, Representing Super types and Subtypes, Guidelines for Drawing ERDs.
Process Model-The Flowcharts, The Function Hierarchy Diagram The Swim Lane Diagram, The Data Flow Diagram .Unified Modelling Language-UML Case Diagrams, Other UML Diagrams .
