8 Aug Dylan Moran – Off The Hook Australian Tour - Dylan Moran, star and creator of ABC TV's 'Black Books' is back in Australia with a brand new show, 'Off the Hook'. Moran's legendary stand up rants have sold out across the world, cementing this unkempt wordsmith's reputation as one of the foremost comics of his generation. Ageing, religion, kids, and relationships intertwine with the general absurdities of life. Searing observations and sumptuous imagery, painted across a large fraying canvas with cruel, curmudgeonly 'Moranesque' brush strokes and all delivered with Dylan's renowned, shambolic charm...It's simply unmissable. Labelled 'The Oscar Wilde of comedy', Dylan is unpredictable, bizarre, elegiac, often cruel but above all painfully funny. Moran sees through the joys and disappointments of human existence with the sensibility and intense perception of a man teetering on the edge. He chews life up and coughs it out. His big screen appearances have included 'Run Fat Boy Run', 'Shaun Of The Dead' and 'Calvary'. For any lover of comedy, this is the must see show of 2015. Don't miss Dylan Moran on his 'Off the Hook' tour this July and August. 11 – 17 Oct Anti-Poverty Week - Poverty and severe hardship affect more than a million Australians. Around the world more than a billion people are desperately poor. For more information and ideas:

www.apw@antipovertyweek.org.au. In Anti-Poverty Week help fight poverty and hardship. Why not organise a display, stall or award? Maybe a workshop, lecture or forum? Interest has been growing steadily in Australia in recent years and activities such as public lectures, workshops, conferences, debates, concerts, displays, sports days, media briefings and other events have been organised. Last year, at least 600 organisations around Australia participated in more than 400 activities during the Week, with a total participation of more than 10,000 people. Some Plans and Suggestions:- Everyone who wants to reduce poverty and hardship is encouraged to organize activities during the Week or join in some being organised by other people. The activities can be large or small, and activities at local levels are especially welcome. They can be on whatever topics, and whatever days, suit their organisers. Official opening activities will be organised on Sunday 11th October and Monday 12th October. It is suggested that people could organise local anti-poverty forums on Wednesday 14th October, perhaps inviting local MPs and mayors to attend. To notify your plans or get further information, contact us at: 1300 797 290 or apw@antipovertyweek.org.au

Dr Francine Shapiro is the originator and developer of the EMDR approach to psychotherapy. Rigorous research has established the efficacy of EMDR as a front line treatment for PTSD. Research has now extended well beyond the trauma field with supportive studies in the areas of phobias, panic disorder, grief, sexual dysfunction, chemical dependency, sexual addiction, pathological gambling, dissociative disorders, performance enhancement, somatic disorders and a variety of other diagnosis. In 1990 Dr Shapiro founded the EMDR Institute which today provides trainings throughout Europe, Asia, USA, Canada, and South America. It is the only training offered in Australia and New Zealand which has this international recognition and maintains the internationally required high standards. The EMDR Institute Basic training is an accredited EMDR training which is conducted over six days to ensure that participants may optimise their exposure to the practice of EMDR with six separate practicum sessions. The six days are broken into two, 3-day trainings named Weekend 1 and Weekend 2. Each three day training is followed by a five hour supervision component. Group supervision dates are usually determined by the participants at the training. The training is an interactive learning experience participants are required to bring a minor issue to address at the training. Sigmund Burzynski is a member of the EMDR Institute faculty and is in private psychological practice in Geelong, Australia. He has an extensive clinical background and has worked in the Victorian prison system for six years. He has been in private practice since 1994 and an EMDR Institute trainer since 1998. He has provided EMDR training in Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, and throughout Australia. In 2010 he presented a case study on trauma based anger at the inaugural EMDR Asia conference in Bali. He is also extensively involved in the supervision and training of psychologists and has lectured on EMDR at the University of Indonesia, and Tarumanagora University Indonesia. He provides supervision and training to psychologists nationally and internationally. Eligibility: Those eligible to attend the training include psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and counsellors (must have a minimum of a four year tertiary qualification)

As a global structure, neoliberalism has impacted lives around the world in far more than an economic sense. This conference provides us with the opportunity to further understand the global effects of neoliberalism, but especially the ways neoliberalism is experienced in different local contexts. The experiences of Australia and New Zealand are different from those of Asia and again of the Pacific. What challenges and opportunities does neoliberalism present and how does sociology respond to those challenges? Keynote speakers will be Professor Eva Cox and Professor Vedi Hadiz. A third keynote speaker will be confirmed soon. For more information please visit www.tasa.org.au/tasa-conference/2015-tasa-conference/
