Surviving are his wife, 2 sons, Ward J. and Robert E., and 3 grandchildren, all of Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Long was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Elks Club, and a charter member of the Twenty-Five Year Motorcycle Club.
Services: Turner Chapel at 12 noon Friday by the Rev. John P. Woods. Burial: At Springville. Friends may call at the chapel.

Born April 17, 1896, at Springville, she married Angus S. “Gus” Long on June 10, 1915, at Cedar Rapids. He died in 1961. A member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1912, she also was a member of the Sarah Circle and an honorary member of the Board of Foreign Missions since 1957. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile, Wednesday Social and Study Club, a charter member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Mothers Club at Coe College, and a former member of the Cedar Rapids Women’s Club.
Surviving are two sons, Ward J. and Robert E., both of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Turner Chapel East by Dr. John P. Woods of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial: Springville Cem.

Mary was born June 9, 1919, in Henrietta, TX, to C. F. and Besse (Myers) Reynolds. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1941. She married Ward J. Long on March 27, 1943, in Lordsburg, NM.
Mary was a homemaker. She was active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she had served as an elder, and in many other church activities. She was past president of PEO Chapter IH, past president of the College Club, and past member of AAUW.

Mildred was born Sep. 15, 1922 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William L. & Roszella (Dvorak) Broulik. She married Robert E. Long on May 8, 1943 in Cedar Rapids. Mildred was a member of the P.E.O., Daughters of the Nile, and Chi Omega Sorority.

Louise (Graham) Long was born and raised in Iowa City. She was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning at the McGovern funeral home with the Rev. Ilion T. Jones in charge. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Employed by San Diego Gas & Electric Co. from 1932 to 1950, he had been in charge of all special construction work for SDG&E, including the San Diego - Rose Canyon section of the natural gas pipeline remodeling of the firm's station at Kettner Boulevard and Broadway and construction of two units of the Silver Gate steam - electric generating station.
After his retirement Phythian planned and built a number of homes in the Point Loma area.
Surviving are three daughters, including Mrs. Jean A. Bash and Mrs. Marjorie Reed, both of San Diego, and four grandchildren. The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity. Benbough Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Long was born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa, attended the University of Iowa and Drake University and graduated from the Columbia School of Music. An accomplished pianist, she headed the music department of Carthage College for a number of years until her marriage in 1921. A long-time resident of Golf, Illinois, she was active in music circles on Chicago's north shore. She moved to Delaware in 1987.
Her husband, Homer D., died in 1969. She is survived by two sons, John R. of Wilmington, DE, and Richard G. of Myersville, MD, and six grandchildren.
A service will be at 1:30 p.m., December 26th at the Cokesbury Meditation Chapel, 726 Loveville Road, Hockessin.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to charity.

Ref: Homer was the chief chemist at Pepsodent Tooth Paste Co., Evanston, IL. In his retirement years, Homer worked on trying to make aspirin water soluble in his home, makeshift chemical laboratory. He and Ann were avid gardeners and had a golf green on their property where they both made "hole-in-ones".

Dr. Long had resided at the Presbyterian Home for the past two years. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 2, 1922, and was raised in Golf, IL, his parents built the fifth home in Golf, and they also owned the property where the Village Hall and the Western Golf Association headquarters is now located. His late mother, Ann, named Briar Road in the Village of Golf.
Dr. Long was a graduate of New Trier High School, attended Beloit College, graduated from Northwestern University, and he received his PhD, from Iowa State University.
Dr. Long served in the US Army during WW #2 working on the Manhattan Project in Oakridge, TN, he served as a Sgt.
Dr. Long worked for Hercules Powder, a chemical company as a Chemical Engineer. Dr. Long designed and oversaw the construction of Chemical plants around the world; he spent his entire career, which spanned over 35 years with Hercules, retiring in 1984.
Dr. Long enjoyed reading, traveling, bicycle trips that took him around the world with friends, traveling. His memberships included the Hercules Country Club in Wilmington, DE, and many professional trade groups.
Survivors include his two sons, Stephen K. of Columbus, OH, and J. Craig (Kathleen) of Evanston, IL; grandson, James Long of Evanston, IL; five stepsons, David, Craig, John, Ted and Brian Maynard; one brother, Richard (Anne) Long of Myersville, MD; four nieces and nephews, Conrad Long, Kathryn Larson, Barbara Bonaio and Nathan Long. He was preceded in death by two wives, Sarah Jean Wildman Long and Jane Maynard, and a companion, Jean Davis.
A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, December 23, 2004, 7 p.m. at the Elliott Chapel of the Presbyterian Home, 3131 Simpson St., Evanston, IL.
Memorials may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 2050 Pfingsten, Rd., Suite 127, Glenview, IL 60025.
