The value of the correlation coefficient,, tells how well or how poorly the two variables are correlated. The correlation coefficient can range in value from -1 to 1. A correlation coefficient of indicates a perfect correlation between the two variables. From this Theorem, if and hence, , then the two variables are uncorrelated. The sign of the correlation coefficient indicates whether the two variables are positively or negatively correlated [4].
