EMPIRICAL REVIEW
Newspapers have a strong and enduring connection with readers across the country (Duke, 2003, pp 1), including adults and children. While some go to it for information, others seek it to educate, entertain, or update themselves, its usefulness to attaining higher levels of education, reasoning, and self-actualization.
As Patrick Smith (2011) notes, the means and ways of building up an audience of loyal young readers now should be at the front of any strategy worth considering in 2012 and beyond. Empirical studies that prove the existence and possibility of creating specialized newspapers dedicated to children are reviewed in this section.
