Unlike their close brothers, the Dinarids, who have adapted to the highland climate, Mediterranids have adapted to the warm Mediterranean climate. According to Croatian Etymology Dictionary by Alemko Gluhak, the notion “plaza” (beach) is derived from the root of the word “Pelazg” (Pelasgian in English), which meant “plainsman”.

The population with HLA-B35 is characterized by the temptation of the Pisces psychological type, i.e. a proneness to depression and self-pity. In Dalmatia we can hear the songs of their present-day descendants, which contain depressive words: "It doesn’t matter that you left me and caused me pain, it matters that you made my mother cry!”

In Italians, a compassionate spirit is woven into the cult of mother and Virgin Mary, so in religion it assumed an important mediator function in the relationship between a sinner and the just God. Their logic is as follows: "If Christ is not willing to forgive (in all likelihood, the un-repented sins), Mary will, and she will persuade Christ to it by her motherly feelings, and then Christ will make the just Father to forgive." When a mother of an Italian dies, he suffers for the rest of his life and the emotional pain is visible on his face.

The defense mechanisms of self-pity and crying over oneself can sometimes be found in beggars of Romani origin, who often represent themselves as sad using facial expressions and speaking intonation, and by doing so, they want to show that they are not responsible (guilty) for being in the situation to beg for money.

The entire population characterized by the psychological type of Pisces is also fond of music with the similar motive noticed in Latin American music (for instance: Mapuche, Mama Juanita, La kookaracha), in Greek music (Ta pedhia tou pirea, Ta lemononadika), in Dalmatian (My good Nono) and partly in our ethnic music (Uzice’s kolo), which aim is to cheer up a sad person, but not to set them free from depression that is the foundation of Pisces philosophy of life. This contradiction between the spirit (motives) and the feelings is noticeable in the fact that such music is often joyful in itself, but its lyrics are extremely depressive. The same motive that characterizes their music is recognizable in their speech. Dinamical letter names of the Phoenician alphabet (aleph, beth, gimel, daleth...) got corresponding melodical names in the Greek alphabet (alpha, beta, gamma, delta...), because the Ancient Greeks were mainly of the Eastern Mediterranean origin, and unlike the Phoenicians (who were mostly of the Semitic origin), they spoke with a melodic accent. Due they generally live in bustling areas, the bearers of the antigen HLA-35 are more than any other anthropological type mixed with people of diverse ancestry. Therefore, we cannot expect to identify their authentic psychophysical distinctions in their purest form so clearly and so often. Astrologers observed that phenomenon and expressed it in the following words, naturally imbued with the logic of their superstition:

"The fish is the twelfth sign, a composite of all that's gone before, and his nature is a blend of all the other signs, which is quite a lot to cope with. His surprising ability to organize and concentrate on detail which pops up now and then, as well as his gentleness, reflects his inner knowledge of the lessons of Virgo. His judgment is as fair and detached as that of Libra, and his love of pleasure is also purely Libran. Pisces people have the crazy sense of fun of Cancer, as well as both the Cancerian sympathy and crabbiness. He's often overflowing with Aries idealism and enthusiasm, but usually without the Mars drive. A Pisces person can zip around with Gemini quickness, talk just as fast and think just as cleverly. He can also be as lazy and peaceful as Taurus. He has the clever wit of Mercury and the soft grace of Venus, and he combines it with the mystic penetration of Scorpio, without the Scorpio's ruthlessness." (Linda Goodman, Sun Signs, pg 502-503)

Due to mixing with other populations, the psychological type of Pisces, besides the mechanism of self-pity, has the characteristics of those psychological types it is mostly mixed with, and those are mainly the features of Western Mediterranids (Libra), Dinarids (Aries), Semites (Scorpio), Alpids (Virgo) and one particular population that has not been mentioned yet and which is close to Mongols (Cancer), but without their adaptive attributes for the cold climate – the gathering instinct for making food supplies and a prominent motherly instinct. Combined with Atlanto-Mediterranids (Leo), Dinarids (Aries) and Western Mediterranids (Libra), the psychological type of Pisces is inhibited in open expression of its mechanism of self-pity, because it comes in conflict with the character of triumph, arrogance and pride. Men yearning for power, who are proud and vain, naturally feel humiliated when they face the idea of being miserable, so that their mechanism of self-pity and weeping over themselves becomes suffocated or secret.

If we keep in mind that the characteristics of the zodiacal signs have been defined in the area of Mediterranean and the Middle East, we should be aware that around the area of Greece the Eastern Mediterranids, which are characterized by HLA-B35, are mainly mixed with one archaic Proto-Greek population which is characterized by antigen HLA-A11 in HLA-Agene. By its structure, A11 reveals similarity with the populations which correspond to Cancer, Virgo and Gemini, and the genetic opposite from antigens that are typical for the Mediterranids and Dinarids. Hence, the combination A11, B35 arised from the mixing of nations of very diverse origins, and it preserved various characteristics from both sides of its pre-ancestors through genetic drift.

In the area of Greece, the great majority of bearers of the Eastern Mediterranean antigen HLA-B35 have, in its next HLA-A gen, antigen A11, while in Serbia only every sixth descendant (16,28%) of the ancient Pelasgians forms the haplotype HLA-A11,B35. In the world, A11 is most present in the region of the Austronesian anthropological type, which is classified into the South-Mongolian race by anthropologists. Also, by its genetic structure, antigen HLA-A11 is very close to antigens that characterize the Yellow race and the Nordids. That is the reason why the zodiacal sign of Pisces comprises the elements of Cancer in its interpretation – the Cancer psychological type corresponds to the Mongol anthropological type. Nevertheless, due to its mediterraneanization, and in some cases its semitization, the psychological type of Pisces (the Austronesians) lacks psychological attributes of Cancer, which are the result of adaptation of the Mongols to the cold climate, for instance, prominent motherly instinct or the instinct for making food supplies. The emotiveness of Pisces is under the masculine Mediterranean influence somehow more abstract, and astrologers have defined it as the temptation described below:

"There is a strong tendency to mediumship among the Pisces people, and therein is a danger greater than any other on earth. No one should "sit for development" and degenerate into the tool of low spirits, but Pisces people in particular are "lost" if taken control of. They cannot free themselves ... because generally inert and devoid of willpower. They are timid, and even the mean are tearful on the slightest provocation; they love leisure more than comfort, and do no work which is not absolutely necessary to keep body and soul together. They love change of scene, rove about considerably, generally in an aimless manner ... When many planets are in Pisces, the person will have a hard life, because he or she will not want to take up life's burden, but will love to dream; such people become recluses; they seek to master the hidden arts, occultism and mysticism; are not guided by reason, but rather by their likes and dislikes, and unless they can find an occupation that is otherwise isolated from the ordinary business and trend of life they will feel out of place. They are prone to incur the enmity of people with whom they come in contact intimately, nobody seems to get along with them, and nearly everybody, whether he or she shows it or not, will take a dislike to them." Antigen HLA-A11 is present in 37,27% of Gypsies, and maybe just because of it we recognize their tendency towards mediumship and witchery, which are the temptations typical of Pisces, but also their considerable artistic abilities. Antigen HLA-A11 is most present in the Taiwanese Hakkas (88,1%), then in the tribe Madang in Papua New Guinea (86,75%), on India's Southwestern Coast in Pulaya tribe (78,0%), in the Australian Aborigines Anindilyakwa (42,24%), in New Delhi, India (41,5%), etc.

Although Mongols are adapt to the polar climate due to the attributes of the Yellow race, their sub-branch characterized by HLA-A11 lives in warm and moist climate areas of the Mediterranean, Indian Ocean and Pacific, because it is genetically mixed with the Mediterranean type HLA-B35 and with other anthropological types (often with the Semites) that are suited for mediterranean climate. For that reason, A11 is usually present in island populations, whether of distant Malaysia, or in nearby Mediterranean. At the territory of the town Rijeka in Croatia (16,24%) and on the island of Hvar (16,09%) this type is more present than among the average population of Croatian continental area (13,14%). In Greece, it is most present in Cyprus (21,32%), where it is present twice more that in the continental area of Greece (9,94%). It is also especially present in North Italy (19,2%) – where it was probably brought to by the Etrurians, and in North Ireland (19,2%) – where it most likely arrived together with the Atlanto-Mediterranids. It is present in the area of the island of Sardinia as well (18,46%), in Romania (15,8%), Macedonia (14,62%) and Bulgaria (14,01%) – probably as remnants of the aboriginal population in that area.

Antigen HLA-A11 in Serbia is present in 12,58% of its inhabitants, and it is most common in Southern-East Serbia (in Nis and its periphery, with 15,4%), while it is much less present in the areas of Vojvodina (9,4%) and Kosovo (7,6%).

The appearance of the Austronesian anthropological type was firstly defined by German physiologist Johann Blumenbach (1752–1840) under the name of the Malay race, which, according to him, populated a broad region from Madagascar to Eastern Islands. Johann Blumenbach describes the physical attributes of the Malay race as follows:

"Malay variety. Tawny-coloured (s. 43); hair black, soft, curly, thick and plentiful (s. 52) ; head moderately narrowed ; forehead slightly swelling (s. 62); nose full, rather wide, as it were diffuse, end thick; mouth large (s. 56), upper jaw some what prominent with the parts of the face when seen in profile, sufficiently prominent and distinct from each other (s. 56)." The languages spoken by Austronesians belong to the Austronesian language family, which extendibility corresponds to the great distribution of HLA-A11. The question arises: is the Austronesian type in our area, besides its genetic marker HLA-A11, noticed also by its anthropological attributes? Are there people in this region whose physical appearance corresponds to the bearers of the Austronesian language family, i.e. to the Malays and Australian Aborigines, to some extent?

As we know that HLA-A11 is being inherited in haplotype along with the Eastern Mediterranean antigen HLA-B35, we will refer to the experience of astrologers in their definitions of the physical appearance of the many varieties of the Pisces zodiacal sign. In this comment of the physical appearance of Pisces, given by The Society of Astrologers of Yugoslavia, we see that people born under the sign of Pisces are characterized by the following features: "Generally low stature, a lymphatic body, legs which are extremely beautiful or short and fat" (Meet Astrology and Yourselves, pg 150). Talking about the skin color in Pisces, Mile Dupor says that they are characterized by "fleshy, darker complexion" (Astromedicine, pg 30). Astrologers Max Heindel and Augusta Foss Heindel say for Pisces:

"The typical Piscean is short, flabby and fleshy with a waddling gait not unlike those born under the sign Cancer, but differs from them by having a stouter body. ... The nose large and flat." (Max Heindel & Augusta Foss Heindel, The Message of the Stars, pg 67)

Astrologer Aleksandar Imširagić divides the Jupiterian sign of Pisces into two types whose physical appearance is different. Type 1 has the characteristics that are really recognizable as the attributes of the Austronesian anthropological type, as follows:
