Oacre painted detailed face and body, much of which remains. Has a cnetral crack down the chest but not serious. Has been repaired with glue athe the base where the legs have once been broken. A lovely piece of original tribal art. Grade II- $250 AFRICA 6385 WORLD AFRICAN AREA PAINTED TRIBAL STICK. 153cm Long. One end broad with B + W chain patterns. The other with caramel coloured diagonal lines, similar to a wafer stick. Nice piece of tribal art. Area of paint missing from the middle section. From about the late 19th century. Grade II- $85 CONGO 6386 WORLD CONGO REGION CURRENCY KNIFE. Used as a form of money before coins and notes were introduced. In the style of a Zappdzap. Made of steel and brass. 43cm overall length. Has a steel blade with artistic engravings, with 3 distinct sections. Has a steel bound wooden handgrip. Lastly the bottom is covered in brass spots resembling drawings pins. Overall a very elegant emample of afican metalcraft. Shows areas of rust + pitting. Around the late 19th/early 20th Centuries. Grade II- $850 FIJI ISLANDS 6387 FIJI LATE 19TH CENTURY BATTLE CLUB. 62cm long, made with an expertly crafted handle. 100% wood. Shows some cracks, with a wedge-split forming near the handle. Shows dents and scratches, otherwise a good example from fiji or the Solomons region. Tapeling round club. $325 6388 LAOS BAMBOO + BASKET CROSSBOW QUNER. Worn bandolier style. Strap made of rattan with shells attached. Has a long black bamboo pipe for arrow storage and a wickerwork rattan basket to keep the arrow heads. The pipe is 56 cm long and the basket is 38cm. Some cracks at the bottom of the pipe. About early 20th Century item. Very well made tribal item. Grade II- $375 PACIFIC ISLANDS 6389 PNG? LIGHT WOODEN BaRBED THROWING SPEAR. Secured with yellow leaves. 120 cm in length. Designed so it is near impossible to remove after impaling. Very nice example. Grade II- $35 6390 WORLD - SHORT PACIFIC REGION SPEAR. 105cm in length. Likely to have been used for tribal wickerwork. 35cm in length. Long & narrow with a wide round top. Has one hole & one long groove. Estimated to be around the early 20th Century. Speckled & yellowing, o/w Grade II- $85 6393 PNG WOODEN MORTAR UTENSIL. Small 19cm in length. Early 20th Century. Pestle not included. Near the base are two carved faces and one carved figure. Has glue stains. A nice piece of tribal art. Grade II- $125 6394 PNG SEPIK REGION ANCESTRAL MASK. Early 20th century 55cm in lenght. Painted Ocre. Most of it's edge has a grass beard. Has an unusually long nose. As well as the beard, a lot of it has hardened clay with shells around the edges, starting to come off in serveral areas. Has large shell eyes. Has a carved hole in the top for hanging on hook. Overall a lovely piece of tribal art. Grade II- $250 6395 PNG SEPIK RIVER LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY SPIRITUAL SCULPTURE depicts a woman sitting on a stool. An eagle is present on her head. A lot of ocre has faded over time. Has a grass skirt, ear and nose hair, bracelets and anklets. Both woman and eagle have shell eyes. Large splits are present in the wood. O/w a lovely old carved piece of art. 72cm in height.
