Grade II- $45 4541 AUST WW2 EXQUISITE TRENCH ART PHOTO FRAME. Made from a 25 pdr shell (1940 dated) which has been cut down to a sloping area with a flat voided area for display of a photo. A .303 round holds the photo in place. A very well done. Grade II- $150 4542 AUST WW2 TRENCH ART. Ash tray made from base area of Japanese 75mm shell. The central primer rod has a number of polished coloured perspex pieces fixed onto it. Grade II- $75 4543 AUST WW2 TRENCH ART FLOWER VASE IN THE SHAPE OF A BEER STEIN. Heavy duty handle affixed to side of medium sized artillery shell. Lower area is flared right out to form a flat base this having been sealed with a flat 125mm diameter disc. Well done piece. Grade II- $125 4544 AUST WW2 TRENCH ART-SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS. Experty (Workshop) made from 20mm shells. (BBC 1941) with tops shaped to be fully enclosed (except for outlet holes). Italian Tank or Artillery shell (70mm) cut down to 80mm height and now has 4 Brass Italian Hat Badge Devices affixed to sides (2 Medical and 2 Workers Militia "Centurie"). Top lip of shell flared out and provision for 3 smoke rests. Very interesting veteran of the Desert Campaign. Grade II-. $250* 4546 AUST WW2 Syrian Campaign Trench Art Table Lamp. Wooden base with numerous period coins inset. Bottom part of shaft is the tail fin of a 2 inch mortar bomb with more brass small arms shells making the upper shaft leading to a globe setting. No lampshade is present. 2 core flex leading to a batten entry mount. Very unusual. Straight "Australia" title also set into base. Buttons set in base of mortar shell. 6th/7th Division Momento. Made from 2 thin artillery shells (2 pounder or 40mm?) The bases have been removed and the walls have been spread in a star pattern. The upper areas have been flared and present a 'wave' effect. "31 May 1916" On obv. & "May 31, 1916 The German Fleet attacked off the coast of Jutland & driven back into Port with heavy loss. Admiral Sir John Jellicoe, Commander-In-Chief, Vice Admiral Sir David Beaty Commanding Battle Cruiser Fleet". An extremely nice memento of the all important Battle of Jutland. Set into British Naval History. Has "Verdun" inscribed into blade. (Not hand made, but Trench or Commercially available momento). Nice little letter opener. Pickelhaube body with hinge to back, lifts up to expose a nickel plated cylindrical cigarette ash container, this with an area of damage to one section. Two projectiles have been added to the central area to form a crossguard (One projectile is missing, but the lower item is intact.) Grade II- $50 4607 GERM WWI TRENCH ART ASHTRAY and what appears to have been a cigar cutter, both made from German WWI grenades. Both attached to a blackened, otagonal sided, dimpled steel base with an engraved ornamental border which in turn is attached to a larger dark wooden octagonal sided base. The kugel grenade has been made into an ashtray by having the top half removed and has a fancy engraved and dimpled steel matchbox holder attached. The rifle grenade has a 16mm diameter circular hole cut into one side near the top and a internal threaded section to the top, presumeably where some type of cigar cutting device was screwed into it.
