PI Interface to the Baily System
T
, the Alarm Subsystem uses
G
and
@
, Random uses
R
, RampSoak uses
9
, and the Performance Equations Subsystem uses
C
. Do not use these PointSource characters or change the default point source characters for these applications. Also, if a PointSource character is not explicitly defined when creating a PI point the point is assigned a default
PointSource character of
Lab
(PI 3). Therefore, it would be confusing to use
Lab
as the
PointSource character for an interface.
Note: Do not use a point source character that is already associated with another interface program. However it is acceptable to use the same point source for multiple instances of an interface.

PI Point Configuration
The PI point is the basic building block for controlling data flow to and from the PI Server. A single point is configured for each measurement value that needs to be archived.
PI Point Attributes
Every two minutes, the Infi90 Interface checks the PI Server for changes to PI points whose PointSource is associated with the Interface. The Interface automatically incorporates these changes into its point list. The point attributes below define how to configure a PI point for use with the Infi90 Interface. The Location parameter determines whether a PI point is an input point (for reading a Bailey Net90/Infi90 value into the PI Server) or an output point (for sending a PI Server value to the Bailey Net90/Infi90).
Tag
A tag is a label or name fora point. Any tag name can be used in accordance with the normal PI point naming conventions. PI System documentation often uses the terms tag and point synonymously.
Length
For OSIsoft interfaces that are UniInt-based, the length of the Tag attribute field is limited by the version of the PI API and the version of the PI Server. However, the
Infi90 Interface is not UniInt-based. Thus, this Interface limits the length of tagnames to be 80 characters, independent of the version of the PI API or the version of the PI Server.
