Jennifer SweetingThe School Vice-Captain for Session 2000-1 was Jennifer Sweeting (Dairsie). Christopher Sweeting(1979- Christopher Sweeting was selected by the Rotary Club of Cupar for a Rotary Youth Leadership Award. He attended a week-long course at the Abernethy Training Centre on Speyside in July 1995. Elizabeth SymeElizabeth Syme died from injuries received in an accident on the railway line near her home on 9th October 1950, She was in Class III.C1. The Rector and Mr D C McKenzie, Elizabeth's Form Master, attended the funeral. Jenny TanS6 athlete Jenny Tan was rewarded for all her hard work in 2008 by being selected as a candidate for that year's Young Athlete of the Year award organised by a national daily newspaper. She was one of only three girls to be nominated. Her outstanding successes on the track included victory at the Under-20 Championships. She was pitted against two of Scotland's most promising athletes in competing for the prize at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, which was won in the end by Beth Potter from Glasgow. Jenny came second in the national ballot with 30% of the vote. Continuing her progress, the next dayJennywon silver in the 800 metres at the Scottish Senior Indoor championships and was selected to represent Scotland in the Celtic Cup at Cardiff, where she won the 800 metres in her first ever senior competition, improving her personal best by over 2 seconds. 
Jenny also took the silver medal in the 300 metres at the Scottish Schools Indoor Track and Field Championships proving her versatility. Jenny andSarah Kelly (S5), another outstanding athlete, were fortunate enough to meet Paula Radcliffe at Stirling at the Scottish Institute of Sport. They are part of the Scottish Endurance Squad and were invited along with other young athletes to a Question and Answer session with Paula. They found it an inspiring experience and it made them realise what it takes to be a successful athlete. And to crown a very successful School Athletics career, Jenny Tan won the 16-21 age group award in the East Fife Sports Council Awards.
Gordon TerrisGordon Terris (1980s) is a photographer and he has recently been awarded a very prestigious prize. His photograph of an eagle at Linlithgow Palace was placed first in the Black and White Category at the Picture Editors' Awards 2002 Ceremony at the Guildhall, London. The awards were pre sented by the Prime Minister and were selected from almost 6000 entries by 567 photographers. Gordon works in Edinburgh for the Herald Newspaper. On leaving School, he took an Art course at Edinburgh Art College, special ising in film and photography. Thereafter he joined the Aberdeen Evening Express and Press and Journal Newspapers. He then moved to the Edin burgh Evening News and, in 1995, to his present post. Michael TerweyThe Summer 2006 edition of the Historic Scotland magazine contained an interesting article about the resurrection of Stanley Mills, Perthshire, where Michael Terwey (1990) is the interpretation officer. The Mills have been preserved in no small part thanks to the intervention of the Prince of Wales. Michael graduated in History from York University and wondered what to do. After some voluntary work at the National Railway Museum in York, he realised that there was a possible career in interpreting history to people. He gained further experience at Hull Museum and then in Newcastle at the Tyne and Wear Museum before joining Historic Scotland. Listed below is his brief CV since leaving Historic Scotland.
Stephen TerweyThe School provided one of the top Physics pupils in the 1994 Highers. Stephen Terwey of Freuchie has been awarded a prize from the Institute of Physics for being one of the top five pupils in Higher Physics, out of 12,500 candidates. Stephen was also top in Fife in Higher Maths. He was School Vice-Captain 1994-5 and hoped to study medicine. Dr Stephen Terwey MBChB (Aberdeen 2001) MRCGP DRCOG is now a partner with the Albyn Medical Practice in Aberdeen. After graduating from Aberdeen University in 2001 Dr Terwey completed his GP training in Perth prior to working in New Zealand. On returning to Scotland he was a GP in Perth, Inverness and Elgin before settling back in Aberdeen. Dr Terwey joined the practice as a partner in August 2008. His clinical interests include palliative care, sports medicine and teaching. Christine ThomsonMrs Christine Arnold (née Thomson), History Department, retired at the end of the 2005-6 Session. Christine is an FP of late 50s vintage and her mother, daughter and son are also FPs. Fergus Matthew Andrew Thomson(1983- Fergus Thomson was a Scottish rugby union hooker who played for Glasgow Warriors. He was a member of the Scotland squad for the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France. Fergus joined the Warriors as a full-time pro in season 2005. Fergus Matthew Andrew Thomson has represented Scotland at under-18, under-19 and under-21 levels and played in the double winning Glasgow Hawks team, after joining them from West of Scotland. Before that Fergus played for Howe of Fife. As a 19-year-old Fergus appeared as a replacement for Glasgow in the match against Sale Sharks at Heywood Road in January 2003, though it was nearly two years later before he made his Celtic League debut as a substitute in the Hughenden victory against The Borders in November 2004. His first start for Glasgow was not until three years after his debut, and that, too, was in a Heineken Cup tie, when Warriors beat Bourgoin at Firhill in January 2006. By then, he had played 20 Glasgow games as a replacement. Fergus was selected for Scotland A's Churchill Cup squad in 2006 and 2007 and put in some stirring performances in the navy blue jersey. Thomson made his Celtic League début in November 2004 for Glasgow against the Borders. He won his first international cap, aged 23, on 11 August 2007 against Ireland at Murrayfield; Scotland won the match 31–21.
