THE HAPPY SIX
Harry A. Yerkes directed this group for Columbia Records in New York between 1919 and 1923. When touring with the Marx Brothers, they were increased to nine, and indeed several of their many records are by more than six musicians. Most of them are dance records with jazz overtones, but those included here are generally of somewhat more interesting performances in a rudimentary jazz style.
