At less well-used bus stops include • Stop name • Which buses stop there • Where they go • How frequent they are and, • The time of first and last buses. 5.6 Fares information, if provided, encourages passengers to have the exact fare ready before they board, helping to reduce bus- stopping times. However, fares information must be updated promptly when fares are revised, otherwise, advertising legislation maybe breached.The use of ‘Smartcards’ should be encouraged as they offer convenience to both the bus passenger and bus operator. Prepaid Smartcards reduce the number of on-board cash transactions which shortens boarding times and consequently improves overall bus speeds and journey times.
