THE ANTI-TYPE OF JESHUA/JOSHUA, THE HIGH PRIEST Joshua, the high priest, was a type of Jesus, the High Priest. Joshua's name was also the Branch, and he branched out from his place to return to Israel. Joshua led in rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem.
Type: Zech. 3:8; 6:11 12; Ezra 3:2. Joshua, the Branch, will rebuild the temple.
Anti-Type: Jesus is the High Priest in the tabernacle built by God (John 4:19-26; Hebrews
8:1,2,6). Under the New Covenant of Grace, believers can now come to God through Jesus, without having to communicate with God through an earthly priest.
