Prophecy: Jeremiah 23:5-6. Family line of David--not the other sons of Jesse Fulfilled: Luke 1:30-33;3:23,31. See also Mark 12:35-37, where Jesus questioned the Pharisees. Jesus was the Lord of David because Jesus was the Son of God. Jesus was the Son of David because he was of the family line of David. Prophecy: Jeremiah 23:5. The Messiah would be a man, not a woman. This eliminates about half of the people of Israel as a possible Messiah. Fulfilled: Luke The fact that the Messiah was male does not mean that males are more important in God's eyes than females. God created both males and females in his image (Genesis 1:27). And Paul wrote that in Christ, there is no spiritual difference between males and females Galatians 3:28).
