Mahayanist teaching implies that all creatures will eventually find nirvana. There is no self. One’s existence is an illusion.

means literally not self 7.Morals. Good works are
advocated including meditation,
self-denial, and right behavior.
8.Worship. There is meditation to overcome craving and the sense of self.
In Mahayana Buddhism, some pray fora transfer of merit from a bodhisattva to aid in reaching nirvana. What appears as Buddhists worshiping before a statue is really a sort of paying respects.
