Confucius is the Latin form of King Fu-tzu or Kong Fu-tzu]. 47 His followers respectfully call him Master Kong or Confucius. He lived from 551 BC. to 479 BC. in China. Kong is a common family name in China Confucianism is a religion of optimistic humanism (man must rely upon himself—not upon God. Confucius was a teacher of many truths. He did not claim to be a god, but he was later worshiped as such. Temples for worshiping him were ordered in AD. 555 at the capitol of every prefecture (administrative/political subdivision) in China. He developed the concept that man is basically good.
