Be able to give the scriptural basis for baptizing believers by immersion. Understand the symbolic nature of baptism. Understand why believers are to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Be able to state three purposes of funeral services. Be aware of texts appropriate for funerals. Understand the importance of visitation related to funerals. Understand your responsibilities related to performing marriage ceremonies. Develop your theology regarding divorce and remarriage. Be prepared to provide premarital counseling. Know basic scripture for use in the marriage ceremony. Be familiar with scriptural assurances that God is with you in your pastoral duties.
