Understanding salvation by grace through faith alone is extremely important. When we realize that Christs sacrifice on the cross was the one work that is sufficient to save us, we have assurance of salvation. Assurance of salvation allows us to live with joy and confidence, not worrying about whether or not we will do enough good deeds to be saved.
