Taylor Michaels Scholarship Fund

  • The Taylor Michaels Scholarship Fund, a program of the Magic Johnson Foundation, is designed to provide support for deserving inner-city high school students who demonstrate a strong potential for academic achievement but face socioeconomic conditions that hinder them from achieving that potential.

  • Since its inception in 1998, the fund, which has several components (e.g., a mentoring program, an internship program, and Life and Practical Skills Seminars), has provided 83 students with financial assistance to attend the college or university of their choice.

  • Applicants must meet the following criteria: be a senior in high school with plans to attend a four-year college or university; have at least a 2.5 GPA; and be a resident of Atlanta, Cleveland, Houston, Los Angeles, or New York. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of (1) a written essay, (2) cumulative grade point average (2.5 and above), and (3) financial need as determined by the Magic Johnson Foundation.
