Appendix–Research methodology

Overview of research resources


In addition to secondary sources, data in this report is drawn from a number of sources including:

ACMA-commissioned research, in the form of a consumer omnibus survey conducted in June 2012. Undertaken by Newspoll, a total of 1,207 Australian adults were interviewed by telephone and asked a series of questions specifically pertaining to their awareness and use of internet-based video services in the home. See Table 14 for the demographic composition of the survey sample, weighted for age, gender and state of residence according to ABS figures.

Data analysis


Results from the survey were analysed using descriptive analysis techniques, and by socio-economic and demographic factors, to identify any areas with significant patterns or differences. Only results with significant differences are reported in this research.
