Making Sense of the Caen Tram/Bus System
As you have come to expect in France, the key to understanding the tram system is to learn the end points for the journeys you plan to make. Make sure that the tram you board is heading in the direction you want to go.
You will be using one of two tram lines, Line A (Orange) and Line B (Red). The directions Line A travels are: “Direction Campus 2” or “Direction Jean Vilar.” Directions for Line B are: “Direction Saint-Clair” or “Direction Grâce de Dieu.”
To head into town, you will need to take:
“Direction Campus 2” for Line A or
“Direction St. Clair” for Line B.
When you head back to the station at the end of the day, take:
“Direction Jean Vilar” for Line A, or
“Direction Grâce de Dieu” for Line B.
Get off at the 3rd tram stop—Bernières to head over to the Sunday Market at Place Courtonne, bordering the marina. If you are planning to skip the market and make your way straight to the castle, wait until the 5th stop and get off at Quatrans.
