Yard, side, established.
The distance between the side lot line and the side building line, extending from the established setback to the established rear yard. If no setback is required, the side yard shall be defined as extending from the street line to the established rear yard.

Yard trash.
Solid waste consisting solely of vegetative material resulting from landscaping and yard maintenance such as brush, grass, tree limbs.
Zero lot line.
The location of a building on a lot in such a manner that one or more of the building’s sides rests directly on a side lot line. Z-lots and angled Z-lots are forms of Zero Lot Line lots where the side lot lines are at an angle (similar to the angle used in the letter Z) to the front and rear property lines.

Zoning Administrator.
The employee of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department charged with the administration and interpretation of these regulations or his or her designee.

Zoning Districts.
The term “zoning districts” refers to base or underlying zoning districts, overlay districts, and conditional districts. (Petition No. 2007-119, § 2.201, 11/19/07)
