ROBERT E. YOST, 83, of Billings,

passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at the St. Vincent Healthcare. Robert was born on May 24, 1918, in Billings, to parents, Henry and Amalia (Weber) Yost.

He attended Canyon Creek School, lived and worked at the family farm until 1941 when he entered the Army Air Corps, serving until 1945. On Feb. 23, 1946, he married Elvera Gabel. As a partner with his brothers, they farmed in West Billings until retiring in 1980. At that time, he enjoyed reading, working in the yard and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was active in the community as a Canyon Creek School Board member for 21 years, member of and board member of the Yellowstone County Farm Bureau and Weed Control Board, Canyon Creek Ditch director for years, member of the Elks Lodge and Masonic Lodge No. 113, lifelong member of Pilgrim Congregational church and served as a trustee for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George, William, Leonard, John, Ishmail (Babe); and sister Amelia Hefenieder.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elvera; daughters Kayrene (Bob) Kraft of Laurel, Bonnie (Barry) Kinsfather of Billings; and son Mel (Vicki) Yost of Bozeman; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers Eugene and Richard of Billings; and many nephews and nieces. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Pilgrim Congregational Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. at Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
