Implications

The government should invest in the provision of digital infrastructure, such as a dependable electricity supply and high-speed internet connectivity, in order to facilitate the integration of disruptive technologies into the learning environment and teaching strategies for skill training. This will allow for the effective adoption and utilisation of digital tools and equipment, thereby enhancing the quality of mechanical engineering training.

During industry attachment, industries should collaborate with technical institutions to provide students with opportunities to use their digital equipment and acquire practical experience. To accomplish this, the government should intervene in the form of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to ensure that students on internships are completely accepted by the industry for training purposes. This will facilitate effective training and reduce the engineering industry's skills disparity.
Technical universities should integrate digital technology training into mechanical engineering curricula in order to educate graduates with the industry- required digital skills. This will bridge the skills divide and ensure that engineering graduates are employable and productive in an industry that is swiftly evolving. To improve their skills and knowledge of disruptive technologies, mechanical engineering professors should be required to complete industrial training. Universities with a technical focus should also provide assistance for educators' skill development, thereby facilitating their incorporation of digital technology in the process of imparting knowledge to students. This will increase the adoption and utilisation of disruptive technologies in mechanical engineering education and enhance the quality of instruction.

The aforementioned recommendations should be implemented to facilitate the effective adoption and utilisation of disruptive technologies in mechanical engineering education. These actions will close the skills gap, improve the quality of instruction, and prepare engineering graduates for productive employment.
