Previous ResearchThe impact of digitalization on TVET education systems TVET institutions are under a great deal of pressure to provide a workforce with the requisite skills for economies to develop in the digital era. Governments all over the world are trying to speed up the digitization of education and make schools better fit the needs of the business world. An example is "The Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa" (Maremi et al., 2022). Public discourse frequently alludes to digitization as an opportunity to enhance the quality of education and provide answers to long-standing issues such as educational inequality and restricted access. Digital advances should facilitate a shift from teacher-centreed to learner-centreed practises, boosting creativity, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Figure 7 Technology transforming engineering training in classroom Source: (Khanna & Kumar, 2020) Similarly, distance and online learning should provide educational possibilities to remote populations and significantly increase access in areas where a lack of resources prevents educational institutions from developing. On a global scale, digitization as a continuous process of reforming the education system reveals extremely unequal patterns. van der Abdumalikovich et al., (2020) opined that, in addition to being used as delivery methods, digital tools have been introduced as learning tools (including computers, tablets, artificial intelligence, robotics, and more) and as part of the curriculum (ranging from digital user skills to programming, coding, and highly specialised digital skills). They are also used as pedagogical, management, communication, and assessment tools (e.g., online learning platforms).
