What do you like most about the College Diversity Summit?

Presenters.

Very well organized

I found it helpful to speak to 4 students and got them totally motivated. They would have signed up right then if they could have!

The presentors- they had motivating stories and connected with the youth. The food- lots of options for everyone. All the information was usedul and helpful Good Job!!

The warm, inviting and collaborative atmosphere that was created by all who attended and presented. Congratulations to Dr. Morote and her staff for a well-structured event.

Motivating stories of the people who graduated? Opportunity to visit with faculty. Parent involvement.

The Summit provides personalized information to Hispanic families, both in English and Spanish. Potential students feel welcome and less confused because they can identify with the way they are being addressed. In the Summit, Sophia has tried to proved (successfully) that a college education for Hispanic students is just around the corner, here at Dowling, and that their vision for a college degree is possible now.

The idea about having the raffles at almost the end of the event was great. This is a great way for participants to remember Dowling College with a prize, this is also very fun and interactive.

Presentation

The panel presentations.

Better organization of the tour and more time to visit the sites and ask the student tour guide questions.
What recommendations do you suggest for next year College Diversity Summit?
Nothing--it was well put together.

More time for discussion and talking with staff and students

Activities like the raffles are very fun. Another idea for the next Diversity Summit can be to ask each participant to write what was their impression about Dowling College in one word in a flash card. Later, we can collect all the flash cards and the person that would like to share what was their impression about the school or the event can win a prize. This is also a great feedback what we collect from people, and this will also help improve future events.

Next college Diversity meeting should be well planned.

Invite business community representatives, as well as representatives for regional social agencies.

Longer tours so all information could be presented during the workshops- felt presentors were rushing to finish.

Spanish session

I would suggest a little more organization with regard to the workshops. I would have one have of the room with a dedicated number "1" tag and the other have of the room dedicated with a number "2". Then when there is the tour number "1"'s would go and the number "2"'s would stay for the Financial Aid and Admissions workshop. They would swap. Seemed like people were a little confused as to what they were supposed to do.

Sophia, you did an excellent job and being part of the Union NC I know you asked for 3 credits of stipend that I strongly support. Next year I think u should ask for 6 credits. It is a lot of work and you did an excellent job. Far more than some of our collegues that have been asking for multiples of that credit amount for what I consider useless endeavors.

Get more students coming to see the Professors!

I would like more food, and more time with the tour group, and more one on one time with the professors. There was nobody to talk with me about a criminal justice degree.

More participation to help with the logistics: set up, food, etc.

financial aid watered down to a student's level More faculty
