Joseph Michael White, Jr. ("Joseph White") born on February 6, 1969. 460 & 491 JOHN CAVENDER #1 line (1770/80 -1840/50) JOHN CAVENDER born about 1770-1780 in Nova Scotia, probably Halifax, Nova Scotia (Some say he was born in Ireland.), married a Sarah in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, later moved to Union Township, Belmont County, Ohio prior to 1820, and died between 1840-1850, apparently in Belmont County, Ohio near Clairsville. Sarah Cavender was born between 1774-1780 in Pennsylvania, and died between 1850-1860 apparently in Belmont County, Ohio. Sarah was born about 1788, and died about 1879 in the home of her daughter then living in Belmont County, Ohio. From strictly an age standpoint, John Caveder could have been the youngest son of Hugh Cavender of Amelia County, Virginia who is believed to have been born in Amelia County, Virginia around 1776. In 1810, John Cavender was living in Tyrone Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. In any event, this particular John Cavender and Sarah Cavender had 8 children: (1) MARY CAVENDER (“Elizabeth Cavender”?) born about 1813 in Tyrone Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, married James Porterfield ("James Potterfield") in Richland, Belmont County, Ohio on September 4, 1828, and believed to have died in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. James Porterfield was born in Drumore Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1807. It is to be noted that there was Mary A. Cavender (“M.A. Cavender”) who married Preston Shuck in Belmont County, Ohio on July 17, 1872, and apparently is a different person, as descendants of the above Mary Cavender say that she never remarried. James Porterfield and Mary Porterfield had 8 children: James Porterfield; John Porterfield; Mary Porterfield; Harriet Porterfield (“Harriett Porterfield”); Samuel Berry Porterfield (“Samuel Porterfield”) who had a son named: David Porterfield; Nelson Porterfield; Leah Porterfield; and, Sarah Porterfield; (2) JOHN CAVENDER born about 1809 in Pennsylvania and married Nancy Hall on November 29, 1829 in Belmont County, Ohio.360 According to the 1840 census for Kirkwood Township, Belmont County, Ohio, the family of John Cavender and Nancy Cavender then comprised 1 male 30-40 and 1 female 20-30; 279 In 1880, John Cavender was then living in Kirkwood Township, Belmont County, Ohio and he was listed as having been born in Pennsylvania about 1809, had by then apparently married an Elizabeth who was born in Ohio. The children of John Cavender and Elizabeth Cavender in 1880 apparently included: Sarah E. Cavender ("Sarah Cavender" & “S.E. Cavender”) born in Ohio about 1851-1852; and, James L. Cavender ("James Cavender" “J.L. Cavender”) born in Ohio in June 1854, married a Saphrona L. __?__ born in Indiana in September 1870. In 1900, he and his family were still living in Warren Township, Belmont County, Ohio. James Cavender and Saphrona Cavender had the following children: John N. Cavender (“John Cavender” & “J.N. Cavender”) born in Ohio in October 1891; Goldie E. Cavender (“Goldie Cavender” & “G.E. Cavender”) born in Ohio in October 1893; Sarah E. Cavender (“Sarah Cavender” & “S.E. Cavender”) born in Ohio in August 1895; and, Clarence J. Cavender (“Clarence Cavender” & “C.J. Cavender”) born in Ohio in October 1899. (3) HARRIET CAVENDER ("Harriett Cavender") born about 1808 in Pennsylvania?, and married James M. Cunningham (“James Cunningham”) on August 22, 1833 in Belmont County, Ohio; 360 (4) NELSON CAVENDER, born about 1810 in Pennsylvania, married Hannah Hatcher on August 11, 1839 in Belmont County, Ohio, and apparently died sometime between 1840-1856. Hannah Hatcher was born in Belmont County, Ohio about 1815, was the daughter of John Hatcher and Cassandra Elizabeth Hardesty (“Cassandra Hardesty”), later married George Bratton, and died after 1850. 360 According to the 1840 census, Nelson Cavender and Hannah Cavender were then living in the Village of Loydsville, Richland Township in Belmont County, Ohio and their family then comprised 1 male 20-30, 1 female under 5, and 1 female 20-30. Hannah Cavender later married George Bratton in Belmont County, Ohio on March 20, 1856. In 1850 Hannah Cavender was the head of the household and was living in District No. 11, Union Township of Belmont County, Ohio. The children of Nelson Cavender and Hannah Cavender had the following children: John William Cavender ("John Cavender", “J.W. Cavender” & “John W. Cavender”) born in Ohio about 1842-1846, and married Lizzie J. Hutchison (“Lizzie Hutchison” & “Elizabeth Hutchison”?) on July 4, 1866 in Belmont County, Ohio; Sarah R. Cavender ("Sarah Cavender")born in Ohio about 1843, and, William Judkins Cavender ("William Cavender", “William J. Cavender”, “W.J. Cavender” & “Judkin Cavender”?) born on May 31, 1846 in Lloydville, Ohio, married Elizabeth Jane Hutchison (“Elizabeth Hutchinson”, “Lizzie Hutchinson”, “Susan Hutchinson” & “Suzzie Hutchinson") on July 4, 1866, moved to Wisconsin, later moved to John Day County, Oregon in 1888, later moved to North Powder, Oregon in 1898, died on July 17, 1915 (some say June 17, 1917), and is buried in the North Powder Cemetery in Oregon. Elizabeth Hutchison was born on January 31, 1848, was the daughter of William T. Hutchison (“William Hutchison”) born on Septemeber 8, 1806 in Jefferson County, Ohio and Elizabeth Hornish born on October 22, 1806, apparently later married George Bratton on March 20, 1856 in Belmont County, Ohio, and she died on April 26, 1930 in Baker, Oregon. William Cavender and Elizabeth Cavender had 3 children: John Wesley Cavender (“John Cavender”, “J.W. Cavender” & “John W. Cavender”) born on May 2, 1867 in Illinois, married Carrie Pearson (“Carrie Pierson”?) on December 11, 1898 in North Powder, Oregon, died December 29, 1929 in North Powder, Oregon and is buried in the North Powder Cemetery in North Powder, Oregon. Carrie Pearson died in March 1963, and is buried in thesame cemetery as her husband. John Cavender and Carrie Cavender had 2 children: Opal Cavender born April 11, 1901, died May 6, 1908, and is buried in the North Powder Cemetery in North Powder, Oregon; and, Juanita Cavender born about 1919, first married Otis Bell, next married Jack Whiteman (“John Whiteman”), and later married an Applegate; Blanche Josephine Cavender (“Blanche Cavender”, “Blanch Cavender” & “B.J. Cavender”) born on January 31, 1870 in Zanesville, Belmont County, Ohio, first married Barney Schwartz (some say Barney V. Sheltz”) on December 18, 1892 and they had a son who died when 6 weeks old. She later married William Arthur Moore (“William Moore”), were later divorced and had no children. Blanche Moore died on October 29, 1967 in Pendleton, Oregon, and was buried on November 1, 1967 in North Powder, Oregon; and, Willard Ellis Cavender (“Willard Cavender”, “Willerd Cavender”?) & “W.E. Cavender”) born on March 9, 1873 in Finley, Ohio, moved with his family to Oregon, married Hannah Elizabeth Thomas (“Hannah Thomas”) on December 18, 1892 in Tekoa, Whitman County, Washington, died on July 3, 1949 in Tekota, Whitman County, Washington, and is buried in Tekoa, Whitman County, Washington. Hannah Thomas was born on November 9, 1877 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, was the daughter of William Thomas and Sarah Jane Zeigler (“Sarah Zeigler”), died on April 6, 1962 in Spokane, Washington, and is buried in Tekoa, Whitman County, Washington. Willard Cavender and Hannah Cavender (“Elizabeth Cavender”) had 3 children: Carolynn Cavender (“Coralynn Cavender”? & “Carolyn Cavender”?) born on August 10, 1893 in Tekoa, Whitman County, Washington, married William Windom Carnes (“William Carnes”) on October 12, 1912 in La Grande, Oregon, died on October 12, 1982 in Baker, Oregon, and is buried in North Powder, Oregon. William Carnes was born on January 26, 1891 in North Powder, Oregon, was the son of Edward Alexander Carnes (“Edward Carnes”) and Clara Ellen Harrison (“Clara Harrison”), died on September 4, 1944 in Baker, Oregon, and is buried in North Powder, Oregon. William Carnes and Carolynn Carnes had 2 children: Willard Edward Carnes (“Willard Carnes” & “William Carnes”) born on May 20, 1914 in Tekota, Whitman County, Washington, married Faye Taylor on August 5, 1941 in Weiser, Idaho, and died on July 4, 1986 in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Fay Taylor was born on February 4, 1924 in Haines, Oregon, and died about 1987 in Kelso, Washington. Willard Carnes and Fay Carnes had 2 children: Dwayne Edward Carnes (“Dwayne Carnes”) born on July 20, 1943 in Baker, Oregon, and married a Mary Ann. Dwayne Carnes and Mary Carnes (“Ann Carnes”) had 2 children; Gordon Carnes; and, John Carnes; and, Delbert Willard Carnes (“Delbert Carnes”) born on June 17, 1947 in Baker, Oregon, and married Chris Hansen on August 6, 1977 in Santa Cruz, California. Delbert Carnes and Chris Carnes had 3 children: Josey McGarraugh Carnes (“Josey Carnes”) born on May 17, 1973 in Santa Cruz, California; Molly McGarraugh Carnes (“Molly Carnes”) born on October 28, 1974 in Santa Cruz, California; and, Katy Lynne Carnes (“Katy Carnes”) born on May 31, 1978 in Santa Cruz, California; and, Beverely Joyce Carnes (“Beverely Carnes” & “Beverly Carnes”?) born on August 25, 1928 in Tekota, Whitman County, Washington, and married Robert Lee Young (“Robert Young”) on June 6, 1947. Robert Young was born on May 2, 1926 in Wallowa, Oregon, was the son of Oliver Pleasant Young (“Oliver Young”) and Coralynn Cavender, and died about 1987. Robert Young and Beverely Young (“Joyce Young”) had a son named: Robert William Young (“Robert Young”) born on May 28, 1950 in Baker, Baker County, Oregon, and married Joette Thomas on May 27, 1978. Joette Thomas was born on January 3, 1953 in LaGrange, Oregon to Claire Thomas and Florance Morris. Robert Young and Joette Young had 2 children: Micheal Anthony Young (“Micheal Young” & “Michael Young”?) born on March 7, 1983 in Pendleton, Oregon; and, Stephen James Young (“Stephen Young”) born on October 18, 1985 in Pendleton, Oregon; Milton Judkins Cavender (“Milton Cavender”, “M.J. Eva Bozarth was born on May 9, 1900 in Whitman County, Washington, died on January 26, 1929 in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, and is buried in Spokane, Washington. Milton Cavender and Eva Cavender (“Lou Cavender”) had 7 children: Marcelane Elizabeth Cavender (“Marcelane Cavender” & “M.E. Cavender”) born on August 15, 1919 in Tekota, Whitman County, Washington, and married Eric S. Carlson (“Eric Carlson”) on November 7, 1938 in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington. Eric Carlson was born on March 27, 1913 in Joplin, Montana, and was the son of Algot Carlson and Anna Mathilda Hadford (“Anna Hadford”).
