Brewer” & “Simpson Brewer”) in Alexander County, Illinois on July 16, 1890 when she was 16 years of age FHL Number 961423, and she died about 1956. Sid Brewer was born on January 4, 1870, was 21 years of age when he married, and he died in November 1962; and, MAGGIE CAVENDER (“Margaret Cavender”) born on September 17, 1879 in Alexander County, Illinois, and died on April 18, 1893 in Alexander County, Illinois; JULIA ANN CAVENDER ("Julia Cavender" & “J.A. Cavender’) born in either February 1840403 or March 1840481 in Perry County, Indiana, died July 8, 1840 in Perry County, Indiana, and is buried in the small cemetery sometimes called the Vaughan-Cavender Cemetery located near the lower entrance to the road to the overlook point of the dam in Perry County, Indiana; GEORGE L. Asahel Hewitt was born about 1831 in Baltimore, Maryland, had several children by a previous marriage to a Catherine Hartman, and died on March 22, 1903, and Joel McKamie was born on February 14, 1847 in Tennessee, and died on April 4, 1881 in Alexander County, Illinois. Asahel Hewett and Diana Hewett (“Elizabeth Hewitt”) had 1 child: SAMUEL STUART HEWETT (“Samuel Hewett”) born on October 14, 1866 in Cairo, Alexander County, Illinois, married Elnora Durham (“Nora Durham” & “Elenor Durham”) on July 16, 1890,and died on March 22, 1921 in Cairo, Alexander County, Illinois. Elnora Durham was born on December 22, 1869 in Union County, Illinois, was the daughter of John Massey Cauble Durham (“John Durham” & “Massey Durham”) and Margaret Corzine (“Mary Corzine”) who were married on January 9, 1865 and lived in Union County, Illinois. Elnora Durham died on July 2, 1956 in Anna, Union County, Illinois; Joel McKamie and Diana McKamie had 2 children: GUY McKAMIE born on February 2, 1878 in Willard, Alexander County, Virginia, married Zoe Belle Yates (“Zoe Yates”) about 1899, and died on July 14, 1901 in Willard, Alexander County, Illinois; and, SARAH LOUISE McKAMIE (“Sarah McKamie”) born on September 9, 1880, married Henry Clark on December 16, 1901, and died on February 24, 1971 in Murphysboro, Jackson County, Illinois. Henry Clark was born on October 17, 1878 in either New Park, Kentucky or in Newport, Kentucky; JENNIE JANE CAVENDER (“Jennie Cavender”, “J.J. Cavender” & “Jenny Cavender”?) born in Indiana about 1844, or about 1845388, 403 & 404 or about 1846481 or about 1848418 in Cannelton, Perry County, Illinois, and who married John L. Frost (“John Frost”) on September 29, 1868 or on September 29, 1869 in Alexander County, Illinois. John Frost and Jennie Frost (“Jane Frost” & “Jenny Frost”) had 4 children: WILL FROST (“William Frost”?) LYNN FROST; RALPH FROST; and, ROY FROST; JAMES J. CAVENDER (“James Cavender”, "James W. Cavender”, “J.J. Cavender” & “James Wesley Cavender”?) born in Indiana about 1847, and married Serilda Colbert on October 30, 1888 in Perry County, Indiana and who was born about 1858; ISABEL CAVENDER ("Isabell Cavender"?) born about 1852, and married a Tipton; and, DENNIS CAVENDER born about 1854 in Alexander County, Illinois, and married Elizabeth Betty Gaynor (“Elizabeth Gaynor”); ANSON CAVENDER ("Cuff Cavender" & sometimes "Anson Cavanaugh") born March 30, 1806 in Vermont, believed to be Ferrisberg Township, Addison County, Vermont, apparently lived in Vermont in the New York State area until about 1817, from about 1817 to about 1824 he lived in Jeffersonville Township, Clark County, Indiana, from about 1824 to about 1835 he lived in Troy Township in Perry County, Indiana where he first married Tabitha Thrasher ("Tybitha Thrasher"?) on March 30, 1828 in Perry County, Indiana. In about 1835, the families of Anson Cavender and his brother, William Cavender, moved from their farms near Cannelton to an area known as the White River Settlement in northern Dubois County, Indiana where Anson Cavender served as a County Commissioner of Dubois County and later a Judge. In 1830, Anson Cavender was living in Perry County, Indiana. From about 1835 to about 1855 Anson Cavender lived in Harbison Township in north Dubois County, Indiana, and sometime after 1853 he moved to Reeve Township in Daviess County, Indiana. He later married Elizabeth Sutton on either March 29, 1868 or on July 31, 1859481 in either Daviess County, Indiana, or in Martin County, Indiana481 and who was born about 1815 or 1820388 & 403 in Kentucky, and who died July 22, 1901 in Martin County, Indiana. Anson Cavender later married for the third time to Martha Hunt on March 29, 1868 in Daviess County, Indiana, with Justice of the Peace Henry Chandler performing the ceremony. Martha Hunt was born about 1811 and apparently had previously married Frances J. Albert ("Frances Albert") on August 23, 1870 in Daviess County, Indiana. Apparently his sons Charles Cavender and Newton Cavender joined the Union Army in Dubois County, Indiana. Tabytha Thrasher (“Tabitha Thrasher”?) was born May 21, 1803 in Breck County, Kentucky, was the daughter of John Thrasher and Elizabeth Tutterer, died December 15, 1867 at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 24 days in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana, and is buried in the Cavender Cemetery in Portersville, Dubois County, Indiana, which is said to be the only graveyard in Dubois County, Indiana where civilized Indians were also buried. Tabytha Thrasher had a brother named Elias Thrasher who married Catherine McConnell who was the sister of Margaret McConnell the wife of Robert Cavender. Anson Cavender died on June 27, 1869 at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 28 days in Daviess County, Indiana, and is buried in the Cavender Pioneer Family Cemetery on the farm of Anson Cavender in Dubois County, Indiana. Anson Cavender was a judge and a county commissioner of Dubois County. Anson Cavender died on June 27, 1869 at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 28 days in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana. Anson Cavender and Tabitha Cavender (sometimes “Telitha Cavender”, "Tabytha Cavender", "Talytha Cavender", "Tabetha Cavender" and "Tobetha Cavanaugh") apparently had 9 children: DEBORAH A. CAVENDER ("Deborah Cavender" & sometimes "Debora Cavanaugh") born either about 1833418 or on May 11, 1829481 in Perry County, Indiana, and in both 1850 and 1880 was living in Harbison Township, Dubois County, Indiana. She, died in a county farm asylum on June 9, 1843 in Dubois County, Indiana, and is buried in the County Farm Asylum in Dubois County, Indiana; INDIANA CAVENDER born May 14, 1831 in Perry County, Indiana, and died August 10, 1831 at the age of 2 months and 26 days in Perry County, Indiana; CHARLES CAVENDER born on June 9, 1833 388, 403 & 481 in Perry County, Indiana (some say he was born on about 1830)404 & 418 In either event, in 1850 he was living in Harbison Township, Dubois County, Indiana, died December 6, 1854 at the age of 21 years, 5 months and 27 days in either Daviess County, Indiana or in Debois County, Indiana481, and is buried in the Cavender Pioneer Cemetery in Harbison Township, Dubois County, Indiana. There is a record that a Charles Cavender was a member of Company E 58th Indiana Regiment, a regiment of sharpshooters originally in Ireland. On November 25, 1862, Captain A.H. Alexander had succeeded Captain Banta and reported that Charles Cavender and 3 others had deserted the company. Apparently, this is the same regiment in which Charles Cavender's brother, Newton Cavender, served. Either this second-named Charles Cavender is not the same person as the first-named Charles Cavender who died in 1854, then the army was late in getting out the desertion report, which is believed to have been the case; ANSON JASPER CAVENDER ("Anson Cavender", “A.J. Cavender”, & "Jasper Cavinder", "Jap Cavender", also "Joseph Cavender" and sometimes "Jasper Cavanaugh" and "Joseph Cavaner") born March 13, 1835 in Troy Township in Perry County, Indiana, in 1850 was living in Harbison Township, Dubois County, Indiana, married Sarah Jane Hays ("Sarah Hays") on January 9, 1859 in Dubois County, Indiana, lived in Reeve Township in southern Daviess County, Indiana in the "Ferry House" on the Daviess County side of the White River opposite Portersville, Indiana, died on February 3, 1878 at the age of 43 years, 9 months and 21 days in Daviess County, Indiana, and is buried in the Old Presbyterian Church Site Cemetery in Portersville, Indiana. Sarah Hayes was born May 26, 1839 in Dubois County, Indiana, was the daughter of Thomas Wingo Hays ("Thomas Hays" & "Thomas Hayes"?) who was born December 11, 1812 and Mary Barnett Reeder ("Mary Reeder") who was born January 21, 1819. She was also the sister of Thomas Hays ("Thomas Hayes"?), Lou Leming and Minnie Hays ("Minnie Hayes"?) Harris ("Minnie Harris"), and further was the mother of the Earl Cavender Anson Cavender who operated a ferry across the White River at Portersville, Indiana and owned a fine farm just across the White River, north of the old county seat of Portersville, Davis County, Indiana. She died either on May 24, 1877403 & 417 or on May 26, 1877 at the age of 37 years, 11 months and 27 days in Portersville, Daviess County, Indiana; The following article appeared in the Jasper Courier, Jasper County, Indiana on June 8, 1877: "The little steamer Bob Lee came up White River last week as far as the Lemon farm and loaded with corn, taking about 1800 bushels of Mr. Force's corn. She left Sunday morning making the hills and vales resound with her shrill whistle. She is expected at Portersville tomorrow to take Cavender's corn." Sarah Hays was born May 26, 1839, died May 24, 1878 or May 23, 1877405 at the age of 37, and is buried in the same cemetery as her husband. Apparently, when Jasper Cavender and Sarah Cavender died, their children thereafter lived in the household of Charles Holland and Martha Holland who apparently were their uncle and aunt and lived in Reeve Township in Daviess County, Indiana. It is stated that the aunts and uncles of the above Cavender children were: John Lemings, Lou Lemings, Thomas Hays, Jennie Hays, Sarah Hays and Minnie Harris. The children of Jasper Cavender and Sarah Cavender were: ALICE CAVENDER born December 14, 1859 in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana, died February 1, 1864 at the age of 1 year, 1 month and 17 days in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana, and is buried in the Cavender Cemetery in Portersville, Dubois County, Indiana; CHARLES H. CAVENDER ("Charles G. Cavender", “Charles Cavender”, “C.H. Cavender” & "Charlie Cavender") born on either February 12, 1862 or on February 9, 1862481 in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana, married Mary Jane Cox ("Mary Cox" & “Marie Cox”) on August 18, 1868 in St. Anthony, Dubois County, Indiana, died in Portersville, Dubois County, Indiana on either June 14, 1885 403, or either February 1, 1885481 or on June 11, 1885 at the age of 23 years, 4 months and 2 days, and is buried in the Cavender Cemetery, Portersville, Dubois County, Indiana. Mary Cox was born near St. Anthony, Dubois County, Indiana on August 18, 1868, was the daughter of Sheriff George Cox of Dubois County, was the sister of Cyrus Cox of Portersville, Indiana, died in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri on August 27, 1925 at the age of 57 years and 10 days, and is buried at the Portersville Cemetery in Portersville, Indiana. Charles Cavender apparently worked in Christman's Stone Yard and it was said that Charles Cavender "was a most excellent young man, a maiden's dream, and a tailor's delight. He possessed ingratiating manners, a pleasing and plausible address and an education above the average young man of his day." After the death of Charles Cavender, Mary Cavender remarried several times and apparently she had 2 sons named Arlo Harris of St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri and Paul Harris of California, and when she died on August 27, 1925 at the age of 57 years and 9 days, her name was Mary Jane Goodwin ("Mary Goodwin"). The children of Charles Cavender and Mary Cavender were: Alexander Cavender ("Alexander Charles Cavender"?, "Alex Cavender", "Lex Cavender", "A.C. Cavender" & "Charley Cavender") who was born December 28, 1883 near Portersville, Dubois County, Indiana; his U.S. Social Security No. 267-10-2263 was issued in Florida; became a geologist lived all over the United States, i.e., in Shreveport, Louisiana, in Glenwood, Pike County, Arkansas, in Lodi, Pike County, Arkansas, in Salem, Pike County, Arkansas, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and in the Phillippines, and died in either February 1970 or about 1973 in Arkansas?. Alexander Cavender first married an unknown person and later married Lillian Lucille Hyde ("Lucille Hyde" & “Lucy Hyde”) who was born in Los Angeles, California about 1804 and was about 20 years his junior and, when she was 94 years of age, she was living in Arkansas. Alexander Cavender had a granddaughter named Holly Wellman born about 1953 and is working on her masters degree at California Polytechnic Institute, and he had a grandson named John Harding; and, Charles G. Cavender, Jr. ("Charles Cavender", "Charley Cavender" & "Charlie Cavender") born December 21, 1885 in Dubois County, Indiana, and died January 8, 1888 in Dubois County, Indiana; ROBERT CAVENDER born in September 1864 in either Daviess County, Indiana or in Sussex County, Delaware481, married a Sarah, died November 23, 1866 in Daviess County, Indiana at the age of 2 years and 2 months, and is buried in the Cavender Cemetery in Portersville, Dubois County, Indiana; NELLY CAVENDER ("Nellie Cavender?) born about 1867 in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana, was living in Daviess County, Indiana in 1880, and died about 1881 in Daviess County, Indiana at the age of 14 years; and, JOHN L. CAVENDER ("John Cavender", “J.L. Cavender” & "Johel Cavender"?) born February 11, 1870 or about 1872403 & 418 in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana, married Alberta Hedrick ("Bert Hedrick", "Alberta Hendrick"?, "Albertie Hedrick", "Bertie Hedrick" & "Berta Hedrick") on June 23, 1892 in Daviess County, Indiana. Apparently John Cavender lived on the Daviess County side of the river from Fortersville, Indiana ("Fortville, Indiana"?) that was known as the ferry house. However, he later moved from Indiana to Greenfield, Tennessee and operated a sawmill near the north city limits. John Cavender died February 11, 1899 at the age of 28 in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana from consumption and tuberculosis, and is buried in the Cavender Pioneer in Debois County, Indiana. Alberta Hedrick was born June 22, 1872 in Alfordsville, Daviess County, Indiana, was the daughter of Francis Marion Hedrick ("Francis Hedrick") who was born on March 16, 1842 in Davis County, Indiana and Lavina Ishum ("Lovina Ishum"?) who was born on January 15, 1850 in Loogootee, Martin County, Indiana and who were married February 4, 1866 in Daviess County, Indiana. Lovina Hedrick died on April 26, 1820 and Francis Hedrick died on February 4, 1919. Alberta Cavender later married John Frye on April 5, 1900 in Indiana, moved to Weakley, Tennessee, died on March 21, 1956 at the age of 83 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is to be noted that a John Cavender married a Mollie Robins (“Molly Robins”?, “Mary Robbins”?, “Mary Robins”? & “Mollie Robbins”?) in McLean County, Illinois. John Cavender and Alberta Cavender had 3 children:403 & 405 Earl Samuel Cavender ("Earl Cavender" & “E.S. Cavender”) born September 30, 1893 in Reeve Township, Daviess County, Indiana, married Susie Young ("Susan Young") July 3, 1914 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee with the ceremony being conducted by Rev. Wiley Johnson, operated the Cavender Coal Yard in Greenfield, Tennessee, and died on either November 30, 1981418 or on December 4, 1981 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee at the age of 88. Susan Young was born August 26, 1895 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, was the daughter of William F. Young ("William Young" & "Buck Young") and Betty Parks (“Elizabeth Parks”), died November 20, 1966 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee at the age of 71, and is buried in the Highland Cemetery in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee. Earl Cavender moved to Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee when he was about 16 years of age. The children of Earl Cavender and Susie Cavender ("Susan Cavender") were: Mary Elizabeth Cavender ("Mary Cavender", “M.E. Cavender” & “Mary E. Cavender”) born July 5, 1915 in Greenfield Township, Weakley County, Tennessee, married Charles Kilgore Stoker ("Charles Stoker") on April 24, 1935 in Washington, D.C. with Rev Freeley Rohrer performing the ceremony, had no children, died September 21, 1935 from Toxemia in Washington, D.C. at the age of 20, and is buried in the Highland Cemetery in Greenfield, Tennessee. Charles Stoker was born in Sharon, Weakley County, Tennessee and was an employee in the U.S. Government printing agency; an infant daughter who apparently died at the age of 2 weeks about 1918 in Springfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, and is buried in the HighlandCemetery in Greenfield, Tennessee; James Earl Cavender (“Jimmy Cavender”, "James Cavender", “J.E. Cavender” & “James E. Cavender”) born August 29, 1920 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, first married Jacqueline Joy Tillman ("Jacqueline Tillman") September 4, 1949 in Corinth, Mississippi, was a truck driver, airplane mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II while primarily stationed in Africa. Joy Cavender ("Jacqueline Cavender") was born march 25, 1931 in what is now the “Big Cypress Natural Area” in Weakley County, Tennessee, was the daughter of William Eli Tillman ("William Tillman") and Mary Lessie Elizabeth Jones (“Mary Jones” & "Lessie Jones"), became a legal secretary and court reporting. The James Cavender family primarily lived in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee. The children of James Cavender and Jacqueline Cavender (“Joy Cavender”) were: Jerry Wayne Cavender ("Jerry Cavender" & “Gerald Cavender”)) born September 13, 1951 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, married Peggy Sue Napier (“Margaret Sue Napier”, “Margaret Napier” & “Peggy Napier”) on March 31, 1986 in Springfield, Henry County, Tennessee, and resides in Memphis, Tennessee. Peggy Napier was born December 11, 1950 in Rella (Arjay), Bell County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of Edgar Napier and Alberta Woolum. Peggy Napier Cavender apparently later married Edsel Mynatt. The Jerry Cavender family primarily lived in Bartlett, Tennessee. The children of Jerry Cavender and Peggy Cavender (“Elizabeth Cavender”, “Sue Cavender” & “Susan Cavender”) were: Amanda Lynn Mynatt ("Amanda Mynatt") born December 28, 1978 in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee and who apparently was born to Peggy Napier as a result of a her previous marriage and later adopted by Jerry Cavender; Jessica Sue Cavender ("Jessica Cavender") born November 7, 1986 in Memphis, Tennessee; and, Jonathan William Cavender ("Jonathan Cavender") born February 15, 1990 in Memphis, Tennessee; and, Joe Tillman Cavender ("Joe Cavender" & "Joseph Cavender"?) born January 20, 1958 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, married Ramona Lynn McCartney ("Ramona McCartney") December 29, 1979 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, and resides in Greenfield, Tennessee. Ramona McCartney was born July 3, 1961 in Trenton, Gibson County, Tennessee, and was the daughter of Benny Herman McCartney (“Benny McCartney” & “Benjamin McCartney”?) and Carolyn Walters"). Joe Cavender and Ramona Cavender have 2 children: Cassie Jo Cavender ("Cassie Cavender") born April 15, 1983 in Greenfild, Weakley County, Tennessee ; and, Kelli Lynn Cavender ("Kelli Cavender" & “Kelley Cavender) born April 23, 1987 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee; Eva Sue Cavender (“Eva Cavender”) born on December 18, 1926 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, and married Luther Milburn Adams (“Luther Adams”) on July 24, 1945, first lived in Weakley County, Tennessee and later moved to Lansing, Michigan. Luther Adams was born in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee. Luther Adams and Eva Adams had a son named: Leslie Earl Adams (“Leslie Adams”) born on November 4, 1946 in McKenzie, Carroll County, Tennessee, married Sue Maxine Caldwell (“Susan Maxine Caldwell”, “Susan Caldwell” & “Sue Caldwell”) in March 1965 in Lansing, Michigan, and divorced in December 1970 in Lansing, Michigan. Leslie Adams and Sue Adams (“Susan Adams” & “Maxine Adams”) had a daughter: Kimberly Sue Adams (“Kimberly Adams”) born on December 3, 1965; John William Cavender ("John Cavender", “John W. Cavender”, “J.W. Emily Maness is believed to have been born about 1931 in Weakley County, Tennessee, was the daughter of J.B. Maness and a Wilsie, apparently previously married Bob Ramsey (“Robert Ramsey”), died June 21, 1992 in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee from cancer, and is buried in the Highland Cemetery in Greenfield, Tennessee. Emily Maness apparently married Travis Usery either before or after her marriage to John Cavender and bad 2 daughters by her previous marriage: Molly Usery; ("Mary Usery" & "Mary Ann Usery"); and, Martha Usery. John Cavender and Betty Cavender ("Elizabeth Cavender") had a son named: Tony William Cavender ("Tony Cavender" & "Anthony Cavender"?) born June 26, 1956 in Fulton, Fulton County, Kentucky, married Robin Annette Newsom ("Robin Newsom") on April 30, 1977 in Memphis, Tennessee, first resided in Memphis, Tennessee and later resided in the vicinity of Senatobis, Mississippi.
