Della Rymers was born about 1874 in Illinois and died about 1918 in Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County, Illinois. Alonzo Furrow and Della Furrow had 5 children: Erda Furrow born about 1894; Burl Furrow born about 1896; Alma Furrow born about 1900; Floyd Furrow born in 1906, and died June 12, 1933; and, Ulen Furrow born about 1908; Cora Elma Furrow ("Cora Furrow") born August 3, 1866 in Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County, Illinois, married Anselm Holcomb August 28, 1887 in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois, and died October 17, 1902 in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois. Anselm Holcomb was born September 1851 in Vinton, Huntington Township, Gallia County, Ohio, was the son of Dr. Ira Holcomb and Ester M. Ewing ("Ester Ewing"), and died in Sawtell, Los Angeles County, California. Anselm Holcomb and Cora Holcomb 7 children: Ira Holcomb born October 1888 in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois, apparently never married, and died March 28, 1910 in Fort Madison, Lee County, Iowa; Mary Holcomb ("Ester Holcomb") born May 6, 1890 in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois, married Claude H. Triplett ("Claude Triplett") August 11, 1906 in Coffeeville, Montgomery County, Kansas, and died July 15, 1979 in Niles, Michigan. Claude Triplett was born March 1, 1886 in Edna, Kansas and died April 27, 1972 in Niles, Michigan. Claude Triplett and Mary Triplett had 2 children: Robert Claude Triplett ("Robert Triplett") born May 6, 1909 in Independence, Missouri, married Delna Towner January 26, 1930 in Sapula, Oklahoma, and died March 24, 1995 in Rosebury, Oregon. Delna Towner was born February 6, 1911 in Muskegee, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Leroy H. Towner ("Leroy Fowner") and Auroura Randall, and died October 23, 1962 in Michigan Shores, Michigan. Robert Triplett and Delna Triplett had a daughter named: Joyce Towner Triplett ("Joyce Triplett") born December 29, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and married William Brumfield September 10, 1949 in Los Angeles, California. William Brumfield and Joyce Brumfield had 3 children: Robert Daniel Brumfield ("Robert Brumfield") born October 10, 1950 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas and who has two children named: Robert William Brumfield ("Robert Brumfield") born January 23, 1986 in Los Angeles, California; and, D'Laura Danielle Brumfield ("D'Laura Brumfield") born February 23, 1990 in Los Angeles, California; and, Rodger Triplett born May 24, 1929 in Topeka, Kansas and died November 15, 1967 in Kansas City, Kansas. Roger Triplett had 2 children: Lori Triplett; and, Kay Triplett ; Verona Buryle Holcomb ("Verona Holcomb") born October 3, 1893 in La Harpe, Hancock County, Illinois, first married Oliver Prescott Long ("Prescott Long" & "Oliver Long") February 28, 1910 in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois and later married William Mosher in November 1922 in Memphis, Scotland County, Missouri, died March 16, 1963 in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois, and is buried in Calico Rock, Arkansas. Oliver Long and Verona Long had a daughter named: Earla Long who first married a Rickey and later married Mark Thompson and who is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. Mark Thompson and Earla Thompson had a daughter named: Glayda Kay Thompson ("Glayda Thompson"); Etta Holcomb born in March 1897 in Oregon, apparently never married, and died after 1910; Adra Rebecca Holcomb ("Adra Holcomb") born December 26, 1898 in Cornucopia in Carson County, Oregon or in Baker County, Oregon, first married Seth C. Webb ("Seth Webb") June 2, 1917 in Strecter, La Salle County, Illinois, later married Harry Lucus (“Harold Lucus”?) on August 20, 1943, and died July 24, 1967 in East Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois. Seth Webb was born December 11, 1896 and died February 16, 1962. Harry Lucus was born October 24, 1902 and died January 26, 1987; Carl A. Holcomb ("Carl Holcomb") was a twin born June 7, 1901 in Pine Valley Precinct, Union County, Oregon, married Cecil Bradford February 28, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa, died March 3, 1956 in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois, was buried in the Arsenal Cemetery in Rock Island County, Illinois, was later re-buried March 13, 1956 at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. The children or Carl Holcomb and Cecil Holcome were: Robert C. Holcomb ("Robert Holcomb") living in Fargo, South Carolina; Jack Alvin Holcomb ("Jack Holcomb") living in Burlington, Iowa; and, Sally Jean Holcomb ("Sally Holcomb") living in California; and, Earl A. Holcomb ("Earl Holcomb") was a twin born June 7, 1901 in Pine Valley Precinct, Union County, Oregon, married a Maude, and died after 1943; Frank Furrow born October 12, 1869 and died December 16, 1870 at the age of 8 years; and, Mary Elizabeth Furrow ("Mary Furrow") born either on July 30, 1842445, September 6, 1865445, September 6, 1865445 or on March 17, 1875 at Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County, Illinois, married John Thomas Harrison ("John Harrison") who was the son of Thomas Harrison and Maria Grade, and she died on April 5, 1924. John Harrison and Mary Harrison ("Elizabeth Harrison") had a daughter named: Cordelia Emma Harrison ("Cordelia Harrison") born on August 18, 1866, married Charles Kemp, and died on January 27, 1937. Charles Kemp and Cordelia Kemp ("Emma Kemp") had 3 children: Mary Roberta Kemp ("Mary Kemp") who married Charles Wood Ratcliffe ("Charles Ratcliffe"); Cordelia Cavender Kemp ("Cordelia Kemp") born june 13, 1891, and married Henry Nelson Harrison ("Henry Harrison"); and, John Harrison Kemp ("John Kemp") born on March 25, 1894, and married Margaret Bridges. John Kemp and Margaret Kemp had a son: John Harrison Kemp, Jr. ("John Kemp) born on August 6, 1917 and married Evelyn Carey Baynard ("Evelyn Baynard"). John Kemp and Evelyn Kemp ("Cary Kemp") had a son named: David Harrison Kemp ("David Kemp") who married a Bonnie Dodson. David Kemp and Bonnie Kemp had 3 children: Jaqueline Kemp; David Kemp; Gregory Kemp; Michael Kemp; and, Jacepueline May Kemp ("Jacepueline Kemp") born on January 3, 1941 and married Garey Andrew. Gary Andrew and Jacepueline Andrew ("May Andrew") had 2 children named Douglas Andrew and Anna Virginia Kemp ("Anna Kemp") born on July 16, 19xx; Lavinia Furrow ("Lavina Furrow"?) born August 1, 1830 in either Marysville Township, Union County, Ohio or in Miami County, Ohio, and married a Zimmerman; Mirza Furrow born June 20, 1832 445 or September 28, 1832 in Miami County, Ohio, and married Edwin Knight who had previously been married; Leander Furrow born September 13, 1835 in Miami County, Ohio and died September 4, 1898 in Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County, Illinois; Samantha Furrow born May 31, 1839 at Miami County, Ohio and married Charles Comsky; and, Josephine Furrow born February 7, 1841 in Miami County, Ohio, apparently never married, and died January 21, 1936 in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois; 282, 369 & 445 THOMAS CAVENDER who married Amy Tical ("Amy Hical"?, "Amey Hical"?, "Anny Tical"? & "Amey Tical"?) on February 28, 1820 in Miami County, Ohio; JOHN CAVENDER who was called "Jr." so as not to be confused with his uncle, was born about 1795, married Sarah Langley in Miami County, Ohio either on January 25, 1823 in Troy, Miami County, Ohio, and died about 1825. (However, some say they were married on January 24, 1823, and some say they were married on December 24, 1823.)John Cavender’s name appears on the deed of Thomas Cavender dated January 24, 1823. Sarah Langley is believed to have been born about 1808 to William B. Langley (“William Langley”) and Martha Blue in Staunton Township in West Milton, Miami County, Ohio which is across the river from Troy, Miami County, Ohio. Following the death of her husband, she married Samuel W. Zelkit (“Samuel Zelkit”). Her estate was administered by Bennett W. Langley (“Bennett Langley”). 282 & 314 John Cavender and Sarah Cavender are believed to have had a daughter named:
WILLIAM CAVENDER, married Elizabeth Sheek ("Elizabeth Shiek"? & "Elizabeth Chick"?) May 6, 1827 in Miami County, Ohio and also appears on the deed of Thomas Cavender; WESLEY CAVENDER born on November 15. 18??, and married Jane Graham on either November 15, 1833 or on November 25, 1823 in Miami County, Ohio. (See children of John Cavender below); SARAH CAVENDER who first married Samuel Mercer ("Samuel Marcer"?) on either October 23, 1829 or on October 29, 1829, and later married John Blue on October 3, 1836 in Miami County, Ohio. Samuel Mercer was born September 3, 1803, died April 27, 1835 in Miami County, Ohio at the age of 31; and, REBECCA CAVENDER born March 11, 1812 in Miami County, Ohio, married her first cousin, Robert Charles Cavender ("Robert Cavender", “Robert C. Cavender” & “R.C. Cavender”), on December 13, 1836 in Miami County, Ohio and died November 11, 1881 in Allen County, Indiana. They were living in Clear Creek Township in Allen County, Indiana in 1850, and in 1860 they were living in Virginia Township in Allen County, Indiana. The children of Robert Cavender and Rebecca Cavender were: Ezra Cavender born September 11, 1837 in Miami County, Ohio, and married a Margaret on December 14, 1862 in Miami County, Ohio. In 1860, Ezra Cavender was living with another family in Virginia Township in Cass County, Illinois; Morris Cavender ("M.C. Cavender"?) born August 22, 1839 in Miami County, Ohio? and married Mary Hummer in Miami County, Ohio; Alvira Cavender born March 20, 1841 in Miami County, Ohio, and married G.W. Murman on September 6, 1856 in Illinois?; Melvina Cavender born February 27, 1843 in Indiana, and married LeonardB. Simmon on August 12, 1866 in Illinois; Clarissa Cavender born June 1, 1845 in Indiana, and married Thomas J. Davis ("Thomas Davis") on October 11, 1863 in Cass County, Illinois; and, Harrison Cavender, Jr. born October 22, 1847 in Ft. Wayne Township in Allen County, Indiana, and who married his first cousin, Sarah Margaret Cavender ("Sarah Cavender"), on February 19, 1880 in Jasper County, Iowa, died on March 22, 1934, and is buried in either the Lentz or Leon Cemetery in Decauter County, Iowa. Sarah Cavender was born April 23, 1861 in Morgan County, Illinois and died September 4, 1902 in Decauter County, Iowa. Harrison Cavender and Sarah Cavender had 9 children: John R. Cavender ("John Cavender"), born and died about 1881; Elvira Cavender born about 1882, married Robert H. Holliday ("Robert Holliday, and died about 1964. Robert Holliday was born about 1875, and died about 1938. Robert Holliday and Elvira Holliday had 2 children: Mary I. Holliday ("Mary Holliday") born about 1907, and died about 1910; and, Coy Holliday; Henry P. Cavender ("Henry Cavender" & “H.P. Cavender”) born about 1884, married Mary Barngrover, and died about 1963. Henry Cavender and Mary Cavender had 2 children: Donald Cavender; and, Ruth Cavender born about 1915; Rose E. Cavender ("Rose Cavender" & “R.E. Cavender”) born about 1886; Earl O. Cavender ("Earl Cavender" & “E.O. Cavender”) born about 1888; Mattie Cavender born about 1890; Lillie A. Cavender ("Lillie Cavender" & “L.A. Cavender”) born about 1892; Sarah Cavender born about 1895, and married Walter Kindsche; and, Howard Cavender born about 1898, and died about 1954; REUBEN CAVENDER ("Reubon Cavender?) born in Delaware, married an Amelia in Delaware, and died about 1800 in Mispellion, Delaware. Amelia was born about 1773 in Delaware. According to the 1800 census for Mispillion Hundred, Kent County, Delaware, a Reuben Cavender family comprised 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-45, 2 females under 10, and 1 female 26-45. Reuben Cavender and Amelia Cavender apparently was also named: REUBEN CAVENDER who was born in 1794 in Kent County Delaware, and married a Mary in Kent County, Delaware who was born about 1820. It is believed that this particular Reuben Cavender finally settled in either Miami County, Ohio or in Montgomery County, Ohio where he died. Reuben Cavender and Mary Cavender had 5 children: Louisa Cavender born in 1838; Carolyn Cavender born in 1839; Elizabeth Cavender born in 1841; John Cavender born in 1847; and, William Cavender born about 1850; and, SALLY B. CAVENDER ("Sarah Cavender" & “S.B. Cavender”) was born in Kent County, Delaware, in 1815, first married Samuel Eulass (“Sally Eulass”), and later married Samuel Mercer on October 23, 1829 in Miami County, Ohio (“Sally Mercer”); 7, 68, 71, 79, 97, 196, 219, 269, 279, 282, 312, 313, 314, 315, 330, 333, 337, 338, 339, 347, 352, 372 ( File 1125, Miami County, Ohio Estate Papers) (VI) JAMES CAVENDER, SR. born about 1739 in Maryland?, married Jane Conner (sometimes "Jane Connor" & “Jane Cannon”?) in Dorchester County, Maryland, and died in October 1792. James Cavender apparently was living in Spring Garden, in Spring Garden Addition? and in Thomas' Addition ("Thomas Addition"), both located in Dorchester County, Maryland from about 1756 to about 1758. On March 17, 1769, he purchased from James Smith a tract of land located on the borders of Dorchester County, Maryland containing 108 acres and known as “Smith’s Folly”.302 In 1769, he was surety for Kendal Jacobs ("Kendall Jacobs"?). In 1773, he was a witness to a legal document of Thomas Cannon ("Thomas Connor"?) in Dorchester County, Maryland. He enlisted as a private in the Revolutionary War on May 27, 1777, was made corporal on March 1, 1777, made sergeant January 1, 1778. Apparently Jane Connor ("Jane Conner"?) was the daughter and administratrix of the estate of Sarah Connor ("Sarah Conner"?) whose Last Will and Testament was probated April 17, 1761 (some say April 17, 1796 269) in Kent County, Delaware and whose husband, Thomas Connor? ("Thomas Conner"?), had predeceased her. Jane Cavender's Last Will and Testament was executed October 16, 1788 and probated October 24, 1792. Although there were other heirs named in her will, only the following names were legible: James , Thomas, Charles John and Mary. The Last Will and Testament of James Cavender, Sr. read: Actually, the Last Will and Testament of the above James Cavender, Sr. read as follows:
Note the fact that James Cavender apparently personally signed his signature. As his signature is quite difficult to read, he apparently did spell his name corrctly. As his signature is quite shaky, it probably was either very sick or of advanced age. This is quite unusual as most Cavenders during that time frame signed their name with an “x”. The Testamentary Bond was posted by David Cavender and Newton Cannon about October 24, 1792 which stated: Suffex County ss, Know all men by these presents, that we David Cavender of the county aforesaid, yeoman, and Newton Cannon of the same county, yoeman, are held and firmly bound unto the Delaware State, in the sum of five hundred pounds of lawful money of said state, to be paid for and use of the same, to which payment well and truly be made and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and sevraly, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated the twenty fourth day of October one thousand seven hundred and ninety two. The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bounden David Cavender, executor,l of the last will and testament of James Cavender late of the county of Sussex, deceased, do make, or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels, and credits which were of the said deceased, at his death, which have, shall, or may come to the hands or possession of him the said David Cavender or in the hands or possessions of any other person or persons, for him and the same so do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Register’s Office of the county aforesaid, on or before the thenty fourth day of January next ensuing: And the same goods chattels and credits; and all other goods, chattels and credits, of the said deceased, which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of him the said David Cavender or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons whatsoever, for him do well and truly administer according to law; and further shall make, or cause to be made, a true and just account of his said administration, on or before the twenty fourth day of October next ensuing. All the rest and residue of the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased, which shall be found remaining on the said executors account, the same being first examined and allowed by the Orphan’s Court for the county aforesaid, shall deliver and pay, distribute and dispose of, according to the tenor and effect of the last will and testament of the said deceased: Then the above obligation to be void, orelse to remain in full force and virtue.” Signed by David Cavender (apparently in his own signature) and Newton Cannon. Signed and delivered in presence of Phillips Kollock Sussex County, ss, Memorandum the 24 Day of October 1792 before me Phillips Kollock Register appointed for the probate of wills and granting letters of administration for the county afsd (“aforesaid”) appeared Newton Cannon, and Robert Juett, two of the Witnesses to the within Will, who being duly sworn on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God did severally depose and say that in their sight, presence and hearing the testator James Cavender did seal, publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of a sound and perfect mind memory and judgment and that they and each of them together with George Cannon, subscribed the same as witnesses in the presence of the Testator and at his request. Signed, Phillips Kollock, Regr Thus, it appears that James Cavender, Sr. and Sarah Cavender had 5 children: JAMES CAVENDER, Jr. On April 21, 1808, apparently this particular James Cavender sold to his brother Thomas Cavender for 50 pounds current money a house and its contents located in Dorchester County, Maryland and which purchase was witnessed by Levin Marshall; THOMAS CAVENDER believed to have been born about 1762 based solely on his marriage to Sarah Wheeler (“Sarah Wheeler” & “Sarah Wheelor”) in New Castle County, Delaware on either August 9, 1792, 269, 335 & N.C. Cnty. Del. Vol.15, pp 194 or in 1783 N.C. Cnty. Del. Vol.54, pp 69 Apparently, Sarah Wheeler was the daughter of William Wheeler (“William Sheeler”?) and an Alice and was appointed the Administratrix of her father's estate. Thomas Cavender and Sarah Cavender apparently had 7 children: CHARLES CAVENDER born in either Altoona, Pennsylvania or in New Castle County, Delaware, and moved to Altoona, Pennsylvania. In 1800, a Charles Cavender was living in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; HENRY CAVENDER born born about 1790 near Brandywine Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware where he married an Elizabeth and spent his whole life there as a farmer. In 1920, a Henry Cavender family was living in Christiana Hundred in New Castle County, Delaware and his family at that time consisted of 2 males under 10 years, 1 female 10-16, 1 male and 1 female 16-26, and 2 males 26-45. As there were Scotch-Irish Presbyterians living in Brandywine Hundred in 1809, it is probable that Henry Cavender and Elizabeth Cavender were likewise Scotch-Irish Presbyterians. Elizabeth Cavender is believed to have died on July 25, 1865 at the age of 70 years.Del. Archives, Dover, Del.
