(ix) David Moore Cavender ("David Cavender" & “David Cavender”), born February 5, 1829 in Hancock, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, married Mary Jane Carley ("Mary Carley" & "Jane Carley") on November 22, 1848 in Peterborough, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire with Rev. L. Billings performing the ceremony, and died on September 13, 1908 in DeWitt County, Illinois. Actually, she went by the name Jane as confirmed from letters from and sent to Rachel Bales and her daughter, Alice. On January 28,1850, his mother Rachel Cavender wrote to him while he was still residing in Peterboro, New Hampshire, and while his mother was then residing in either Coberley, Ohio or Copley, Ohio.384 On June 28, 1855, David Cavender, then still living in Petersborough, New Hampshire, purchased for $21.25 from Joseph A. Howard ("Joseph Howard"), administrator of the estate of Thomas Laws, late of Petersborough, New Hampshire, Pew #76 in the Congregational Church in Petersborough and 3 votes in said Association. On either June 15, 1857 or June 15, 1859, David Cavender purchased 240 acres of land in Dewitt County, Illinois from William Bales for the sum of $2,500. He was residing in Weldon, Nixon Township, Dewitt County, Illinois when he was appointed Justice of the Peace on December 11, 1861 by the then governor of Illinois, Richard Yates.384 He died September 13, 1908 in Weldon, DeWitt County, Illinois, and is buried in Weldon, DeWitt County, Illinois. In 1857, his brother-in-law, Walter William Bales ("Walter Bales") purchased from William Jenkins and his wife, 290 acres of land in Section 21 and Section 28 in Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, and subsequently several of the Bales family settled on this land. However, the north 80 acres of the tract was purchased by David Cavender from Walter Bales. Since David Cavender was a carpenter, he built his house, the house on the Bales' place and no doubt a part of the one that Oliver Walters moved from to his present home, for this was also a part of the original Bales tract.416 David Cavender's sister, Sarah Burnham Cavender ("Sarah Cavender") had married Walter William Bales ("William Bales" & "Walter Bales") on February 1, 1838 in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, later moved to North Lewisburg, Allen Township, Union County, Ohio, was a member of the Baptist Church, lived for a while in North Lewisburg, Allen Township, Union County, Ohio, and later moved to Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois where she died on died March 10, 1856. Mary Jane Carley was born June 17, 1832 in either Peterborough or Hancock, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, was the daughter of Jabez Carley and Emma Washburn ("Mary Washburn", "Mary Jane Washburn" & "Polly Washburn"), and died on either October 9, 1910 or on September 13, 1908424 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois. David Cavender and Mary Cavender had the 5 following children: Alice Marie Cavender ("Allice Cavender", "Marie Cavender"? & "Alice Cavender"?) born September 19, 1851 in Chesterfield, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, married John Almon Lisenby ("John Lisenby") September 12, 1876 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois with Rev. Gray performing the ceremony, died May 19, 1892 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, and is buried in the cemetery in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois. John Lisenby was born February 27, 1851 in Creek Township in DeWitt County, Illinois, died January 5, 1922 in Champaign, Illinois, and is buried in the cemetery in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois. In 1873 daughter Allice Cavender was writing from Yarmouth and Portland, Main to her father who was then living in Illinois.384 In 1874, she was writing from St. Paul, Minnesota where she is believed to be living with relatives while teaching school.384 John Lisenby and Alice Lisenby had the following children: Alberta Louise Lisenby ("Alberta Linsby") born July 6, 1879 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, married Andrew Hall on October 2, 1915, had no children, and died January 25, 1949 in Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois; Charles Cavender Lisenby ("Charles Lisenby") born January 4, 1883 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, married Charlotte Maria Parker ("Charlotte Parker") October 28, 1908 in Weldon, Illinois, died on either February 7, 1949 or on February 2, 1949 424 in Clinton, Illinois, and is buried in Weldon, Illinois. Charlotte Parker was born September 23, 1883 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, was the daughter of Nathan Parker and Amanda Minerva Fonder Smith ("Amanda Smith" & "Minerva Smith"), died May 21, 1974 in Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois, and is buried in the cemetery in Weldon, DeWitt County, Illinois. Charles Lisenby and Charlotte Lisenby had 3 children: Donald Almon Lisenby ("Donald Lisenby") born either August 6, 1901 or on August 5, 1901424 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, married Hope Madson ("Hope Madison"?), died on September 25, 1997 in Champaign, Illinois, and is buried in the cemetery in Weldon, Illinois. Actually, he was born, raised and lived in Weldon all his life. Hope Madson was born September 12, 1913 in Hipedale, Illinois, her mother was Madson O'Neill, died January 12, 1991 in Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois, and is buried in the cemetery in Weldon, DeWitt County, Illinois. Donald Lisenby and Hope Lisenby had 2 children: Donald Dennis Lisenby ("Donald Lisenby") born on either June 1, 1936 or on June 1, 1939 424, lived in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri, and never married; and, Nancy Ann Lisenby ("Nancy Lisenby") born January 14, 1939, first married Warren Goelz and had 2 sons, and next married Roger Tadtick ("Roger Tadrick"?) and had no children. The 2 sons of Warren Goelz and Nancy Goelz were: Steve Goelz ("Stephen Goelz"); and, Jeff Goelz ("Jeffrey Goelz");
Terry Schuman and Janet Schuman had a son named: Brandon Wayne Schuman ("Brandon Schuman") born July 31, 1986 in Pontiac, Livingston County, Illinois; and, Janet Lisenby, having assumed her maiden name, later had a daughter named: Diana Lyn Lisenby ("Diana Lisenby") born July 24, 1987 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois; and, Karen Ellen Lisenby ("Karen Lisenby") born April 14, 1941 in Monticello, Platt County, Illinois, and married Donald Marvin Fugate ("Donald Fugate") on June 20, 1959 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois. Donald Fugate was born November 19, 1937 in Clinton, DeWitt County, Illinois, and was the son of Everett McKinley Fugate ("Everett Fugate") and Retha Mae Turpin ("Retha Turpin"). Donald Fugate and Karen Fugate had 2 children: Donald Lynn Fugate ("Donald Fugate") born on either April 9, 1960 or on April 9, 1968 424 in Clinton, DeWitt County, Illinois, and married Ibtisam Al Masri on either August 11, 1985 or on August 22, 1985 424 in Washington, D.C. Ibtisam Masri was born December 20, 1954 in Damascus, Syria. Donald Fugate and Ibtisam Fugate had 2 children: Rosanna Lynn Fugate ("Rosanna Fugate") born November 1, 1986 in Alexandria, Virginia; and, Robert Lynn Fugate ("Robert Fugate") born March 14, 1991 in Bowie, Maryland; and, Deanna Kay Fugate ("Deanna Fugate") born August 10, 1962 in Clinton, DeWitt County, Illinois, first married Michael Keith Johnson ("Michael Johnson") December 24, 1978 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, and next married Ardandy Carl Brown ("Ardandy Brown") on August 25, 1990 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Michael Johnson was born September 19, 1961 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, was the son of Theodore Powell ("Ted Powell") and Alta Bailey ("Nickey Bailey"), and was later adopted by Edward Johnson and Lillian Beeler. Ted Powell died in 1996. Michael Johnson and Deanna Johnson had 2 children: Michael Christopher Johnson ("Michael Johnson") born September 14, 1979 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois; and, Sarah Nicole Johnson ("Sarah Johnson") born September 10, 1982 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois. Carl Brown and Deanna Brown have no children; Murl Lisenby, a twin who apparently died at birth May 19, 1892; David Merle Lisenby ("David Lisenby"), a twin born May 19, 1892 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, and died September 7, 1892 in Weldon, Illinois; Bly Almon Lisenby ("Bly Lisenby") born May 14, 1895, married Jo Carnahan June 14, 1921, died May 30, 1959, and is buried in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois. Bly Lisenby and Jo Lisenby had a daughter named: Jo Anne Lisenby ("Jo Lisenby") born October 15, 1923; an infant daughter born May 8, 1899, died June 4, 1899, and is buried in Weldon, Illinois; Lucille Lisenby born August 29, 1900, first married December 9, 1923 to Norman D. Hutchison ("Norman Hutchinson"), later married John W. Laws ("John Laws") on March 15, 1950 and had no children, and is buried in the cemetery in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois; Harold Rhoades Lisenby ("Harold Lisenby") born January 4, 1905, first married Marie Daley on November 16, 1935, later married Louise Skinner about 1974, had no children, died December 27, 1993 in Normal, McLean County, Illinois, and is buried in a cemetery in Weldon, Illinois; 383, 384 & 424 Florence Sarah Cavender ("Florence Cavender") born December 27, 1861 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, married Joseph B. Heskett ("Joseph Heskett") on October 24, 1882 in Weldon, DeWitt County, Illinois with Rev. Scott performing the ceremony, lived in Wellington, Kansas and had no children; Emma Frances Cavender ("Emma Cavender") born November 1, 1866 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, married Nathan Allen Nixon ("Nathan Nixon") on September 11, 1890 in Weldon, Illinois, according to her marriage certificate, with Rev. Thomas Kelley performing the ceremony, died August 8, 1925 in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois, and is buried in the City Cemetery in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois. Nathan Nixon was born September 25, 1855 in DeWitt Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, was the sixth child and third son of William Nixon and Margaret Miriam Johnston ("Margaret Johnston"), died October 11, 1919 in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois and is buried in the same cemetery as his wife. William Nixon was born July 21, 1820 in Ross County, Ohio, married April 17, 1845 in London, Madison County, Ohio, and died April 2, 1903 in Girard, Crawford County, Ohio. William Nixon and Margaret Nixon are buried in the Woodland Cemetery in Clinton County, Illinois. About 1900 Nathan Nixon and Emma Nixon moved to Kansas City, Kansas where Nathan Nixon purchased a meat packing plant. They moved again about 1903 to Girard, Kansas after buying a coal mine and investing in several oil and gas wells. Shortly thereafter, the family returned to the farm outside Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois. The children of Nathan Nixon and Emma Nixon were: William Clarence Nixon ("William Nixon") born July 30, 1891 in DeWitt Township, DeWitt County, Illinois near Weldon, Illinois, received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in 1913, enlisted in the army on May 13, 1918 in Peoria, Illinois, served in France during World War I in the Signal Corps, was discharged July 15, 1919, married Viola Mae Moore ("Viola Moore") June 28, 1922 in Stockland Township, Iroquois County, Illinois, lived in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and died on February 29, 1960 at the age of 68 in Cleveland, Warren Township, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and is buried in City Cemetery, Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois. Viola Moore was born March 11, 1901 in Stockland Township, Iroquois County, Illinois, was the daughter of Albert Lewellyn Moore ("Albert Moore") and Laura Belle Purgett ("Laura Purgett"), died January 31, 1976 in Shaker Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio and is buried in City Cemetery, Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois with her husband. Clarence Nixon and Viola Nixon only had one child and that child was a son named: William Clarence Nixon, Jr. ("William Nixon" & "Bill Nixon") born July 28,1928 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, graduated from Ohio University in 1950 with a major in chemistry, served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Korean War from November 30, 1950 to November 3, 1952, served at Eniwetoc Atoll in 1952 for the preparation of the first hydrogen bomb detonation, and married Shirley Jane Horner ("Shirley Horner") on April 10, 1954 in Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Shirley Horner was born August 14, 1931 in Canton, Stark County, Ohio, was the only child of Cecil Othello Horner ("Cecil Horner" & "Jack Horner") and Elizabeth Weldon Warren ("Elizabeth Warren"), graduated from Kent State University in 1953 with a baccalaureate degree in education. Actually, Shirley’s father went by “Jack”, rather than his given name. Bill Nixon and Shirley Nixon had 3 children: William Alan Nixon ("William Nixon") born November 10, 1957 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and married Janice Lynn Barack ("Janice Barack" & "Jan Barack") June 25, 1988 in Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Janice Barack was born June 12, 1963 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and was the daughter of George Barack and Elizabeth. Alan Nixon and Janice Nixon had 2 children: Christine Barack Nixon ("Christine Nixon") born September 22, 1992 in Middleburg Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio; and, Lauren Elizabeth Nixon (“Lauren Nixon”) born on February 7, 1997 in Middleburg Heights, Ohio;
Mindy Lynn Kaesemeyer ("Mindy Kaesemeyer") born February 2, 1990 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio; and, Brett Andrew Kaesemeyer ("Brett Kaesemeyer") born June 22, 1993 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio; and,
] Eva Carley Nixon ("Eva Nixon") born December 17, 1894 in DeWitt Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, never married, lived in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois and died May 29, 1919 in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois; Carl Cavender Nixon ("Carl Nixon") born May 26, 1897 in DeWitt Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, married Lucille Williams, and died September 13, 1963 in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan and where he is buried. Carl Nixon and Luille Nixon had 3 children: Barbara Ann Nixon ("Barbara Nixon") who had a son named: Jimdean Nixon ("James Nixon"?); Forrester Allen Nixon ("Forrister Nixon" & "Forrester Nixon"?) who married a Betty in Flint, Michigan; and, Carl Nixon who also married a Betty in Flint Michigan; Lyle Mason Nixon ("Lyle Nixon") born August 20, 1899 in DeWitt Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, married Lyle Marie Williams ("Lyle Williams") February 27, 1932 in Kankakee, Kankakee County, Illinois, had no children, died January 13, 1990 in Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois, and is buried in City Cemetery in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois. Lyle Williams was born September 11, 1902 in Greencastle, Missouri, died November 4, 1986 in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois, and is buried with her husband; and, Esther Louise Nixon ("Esther Nixon") born April 3, 1904 in Girard, Crawford County, Kansas, married Jules R. Isaacson ("Jules Isaacson" & "Joe Isaacson") April 12, 1925 in Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois, had no children, died October 8, 1992 in Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois, and is buried in the City Cemetery in Chillicothe, Peoria County, Illinois. Jules Isaacson was born September 17, 1900 in Andover, Illinois, was the son of John A. Isaacson ("John Isaacson") and Amanda Bylander, died April 25, 1952 in Chillichothe, Peoria County, Illinois, and is buried in the City Cemetery in Chillichothe, Illinois; 386 & 424 Frank David Cavender (“Frank D. Hunter performing the ceremony, and later married Maude Kelly ("Maud Kelley") on January 1, 1899 in DeWitt County, Illinois with Rev. A.H. Wilney? performing the ceremony. The children of Frank Cavender and Maude Cavender had 6 children: Georgia Marie Cavender ("Georgia Cavender" & “G.M. Cavender”) born February 22, 1899 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois; Lee Franklin Cavender ("Lee Cavender" & “L.F. Cavender”) born May 11, 1902 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, and died September 4, 1901 in Weldon, Illinois; Charles Elmo Cavender ("Charles Cavender", “C.E. It is to be noted that a Charles Cavender married a Mrs. Mahala Wood on April 17, 1847 in Madison County, Illinois; David Leslie Cavender ("David Cavender", “David L. Cavender” & “D.L. Cavender”) born June 17, 1904 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois; Josephine Irene Cavender ("Josephine Cavender") born October 16, 1906 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois; and, Marian Lavon Cavender ("Marian Cavender") born July 30, 1908; and, Freddie James Cavender ("Freddie Cavender" & "Fred Cavender"), a twin, born April 7, 1869 in Weldon, Nixon Township, DeWitt County, Illinois, and died April 10, 1869 in Weldon, Illinois; (4) Annis Cavender ("Anice Cavender") born October 1, 1789 in Greenfield, Hillsbourough County, New Hampshire, and first married Jonahan Holmes ("Jonathon Holmes"?) in New Hampshire on February 2, 1815. Jonathan Holmes was the brother of Abraham Holmes. Jonathan Holmes died young leaving 3 or 4 children. Annis Holmes ("Anice Holmes"?). By one account, she died on April 16, 1848 in New Hampshire, believed to be in Barbarton, New Hampshire, and by another account she died on November 1, 1861 in Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin424. The date of birth of Annis Cavender is verified by bible entries in the possession of her brother, William Charles Cavender & “William C. Cavender”), and were apparently entered on January 12, 1809 in Greenfield, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. The children of Jonathan Holmes and Annis Holmes were: Catherine Holmes; Jacob Holmes; and, Elizabeth Holmes, none of which apparently stayed in New Hampshire; (5) William Charles Cavender ("William Cavender", “W.C. Cavender” & “William C. Cavender”) born on April 13, 1794 in Greenfield, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, first married Betsy Gregg ("Sarah Gregg"? & "Sally Gregg"?) on February 2, 1815 in New Hampshire, and later married Eleanor Wilson Hopkins ("Eleanor Hopkins" & "Elinor Hopkins") of Antrim, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire on April 12, 1825. Betsy Gregg was born on July 25, 1793,, died on April 10, 1824, was the daughter of Hugh Gregg who served in the U.S. Calvary in the War of 1812, and is buried in the old Greenfield Cemetery in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Eleanor Hopkins was born on either April 19, 1791 or on April 10, 1797 in Antrim, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, was also a designer of calico, died on December 18, 1839, and is buried in the Canandaique Cemetery in Lenawee County, Michigan. In 1819, William Cavender purchased from his father most of the old homestead land, including a piece of the intervals pasture lands. Since he did not have the $3,000 necessary for the purchase, he executed a surety bond which legally obligated William Cavender during the entire natural remaining life of his father to yearly deliver to him: (i) 20 bushels of good and merchantable corn; (ii) 20 bushels of rye; (iii) 15 bushels of oats, all of which to be put in the chamber; (iv) 100 bushels of potatoes to be put in the cellar; (v) 300 pounds of good pork; (vi) 300 pounds of good beef, to be well packed and salted and put in the cellar; (vii) adequate firewood to be cut, split and brought to the house; (viii) $15 to be paid every January; (ix) one-half of the apples and cider from the orchards; (x) to pay all necessary bills for doctors and nursing of his mother and father during their lifetimes; (xi)to keep 1 well kept horse for his father who was to be brought to his father's house and harnessed at his command; (xii) to keep 2 well-kept cows which shall be milked and the milk churned and made into butter; (xiii) to keep 4 sheep which shall be sheared and the proceeds therefrom to be given to his father; (xiv) to give his father one-half of the poultry that may be raised by William; (xv) to furnish and to keep at his father's disposal one-half of the house; and, Download 8.16 Mb.
