Mary Snodgrass was born December 25, 1833 in Sparta, White County, Tennessee, was the daughter of David Snodgrass (1790-1865) and Minerva Brown (1833-1872), was a half-sister to Susanna Snodgrass who married George Compton's older brother, Dr. John Patrick Compton ("John Compton"), died about 1872 in Branson, Taney County, Missouri, and is buried in the Branson Cemetery in Branson, Taney County, Missouri. David Snodgrass apparently was married three times and had a total of 20 children and was the son of Capt. James Snodgrass whose Revolutionary War service is apparently well documented. By one account, Tennessee Snodgrass was born January 29, 1850 in Tennessee, married about 1872-1873 in Missouri, died on June 18, 1926 in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri, and is buried in the Danworth Cemetery near Strafford, Greene County, Missouri. George Compton and Mary Compton had 9 children and George Compton and Tennessee Snodgrass also had 9 children. By his first marriage, George Compton and Mary Compton had 9 children:

David H. Compton ("David Compton") born about 1853 in Tennessee, and died about 1876 in Branson, Taney County, Missouri;

Samuel William Compton ("Samuel Compton") born March 20 1855 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, was the second oldest child of George Compton and Mary Snodgrass Compton who moved to Missouri when Samuel Compton was 2 years of age. He left home at the age of 17, following the death of his mother after giving birth to her 9th child in March of 1872, to be a driver in a four yolk cattle pulled wagon train headed for Oregon, arriving in what was then Wasco County, Oregon (now Crook County, Oregon) in the fall of either 1872 or 1873, and lived on Willow Creek in central Oregon for 70 years. Samuel Compton apparently first married Jane White ("Jennie White") on December 25, 1877 in Prineville, Waco County, Oregon. Jane White was born August 24, 1861 in Linn County, Oregon, was the daughter of Edward Newton White ("Edward White") of Linn County, Oregon and Anna Woodside. He later married Nellie Bramble Kinder ("Nellie Kinder") on March 5, 1899 in Prineville, Crook County, Oregon, was a partner in the Compton and Dee Sawmill on Willow Creek, and died May 12, 1942 at the age of 87 in Bend, Deschutes County, Oregon at the home of his married daughter, Maude, and is buried in the Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville, Crook County, Oregon. Nellie Kinder was born September 13, 1873 in Scio, Linn County, Oregon, was the daughter of William Hubbard Kinder ("William Kinder" & "Hub Kinder") and Sarah Elizabeth Pollard ("Sarah Pollard" & "Lizzie Pollard"), first married Levi Crain, later married Samuel Compton, died September 22, 1929 in Redmond, Deschutes County, Oregon, and is buried in the Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville, Crook County, Oregon. Carrol Compton born November 22, 1878 in Prineville, Crook County, Oregon, was the grandson of Edward White and an Ann who went to Central Oregon with a group of early settlers, married Ethel C. Steele ("Ethel Steele") about 1712-1713 in Prineville, Crook County, Oregon, died in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon in February 1965, and is buried in the Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville, Crook County, Oregon. Ethel Steele was born February 28, 1894 in Laramie, Wyoming, was the daughter of Willis Monroe Steele (“Willis Steele”) and Catherine Kelly, died about 1984 in Redmond, Deschutes County, Oregon, and is buried in the Redmond Memorial Garden Cemetery in Redmond Deschutes County, Oregon. Her second marriage was to Andrew J. Scott ("Andrew Scott" & "Boke Scott") on April 26, 1924 in Deschutes County, Oregon at the home of Jackson L. Webster ("Jackson Webster").
