1767 is also the estimated date of birth of Sally Cavender (“Sarah Cavender”), the sister of the above Elizabeth Cavender and who married Archibald Compton on December 18, 1784 with the security bond being posted by Archibald Compton and Jeremiah Compton, and with her father Hugh Cavender giving his consent. Again, as consent of parents on marriage bond was then required only if the woman was under 18 years of age, and again assuming Elizabeth Cavender was 17 years of age when she married, then she would have likewise been born about 1767. Thus, there is a very good possibility that the above Elizabeth Cavender and Sally Cavender were twins, particularly since twins occurred quite often in future generations. Archibald Compton was born about 1759-1760 in Prince Edward County, Virginia, was the son of John Compton, Jr. and Elizabeth Mundy, died April 6, 1826 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, and is buried in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. John Compton, Jr. is believed to have been born about 1700-1720 in Virginia, and died before 1784 in Amelia County, Virginia. Elizabeth Mundy is believed to have been born about 1710-1730, is believed to have been born in Amelia County, Virginia, and died after 1786 in Amelia County, Virginia? On April 23, 1779, John Compton, Jr. of Amelia County, Virginia sold to John Tabb of the same county 100 acres of land in Amelia county whereon his late father formerly lived, which land is adjacent to the lines of Joseph Eggleston, William Hutchason ("William Hutchinson"?), John Compton and John Tabb. The indenture was witnessed by Thomas Tabb, John White and Williamson Piles.DB15/27 The will of John Compton, Jr. probated in Amelia County, Virginia in 1784 listed his 10 surviving children, out of a total of 11, as follows: Caleb Compton; Elizabeth Compton who married a John White; Meredith Compton who married Sarah Board on December 11, 1795 in Bedford County, Virginia; Joshua Compton; Micajah Compton; Archibald Compton who married Sarah Cavender, daughter of Hugh Cavender and Frances Eudaley, on December 8, 1784 in Amelia County, Virginia; Reuben Compton; Joel Compton who married Nancy Chapman on December 14, 1786 in Amelia County, Virginia; Jeremiah Compton who married the above Sarah Cavender's twin sister, Elizabeth Cavender ("Betsy Cavender"), on October 25, 1784 in Amelia County, Virginia; and, Jane Compton ("Jenny Compton") who married Richard White on December 27, 1784 in Amelia County, Virginia.16, 30, 133, 149, 222, 294, 350, 355 & 410 When Sally Cavender and Archibald Compton were married, Jeremiah Compton who was the brother of Archibald Compton, and Joseph Cavender who was the brother of Sally Cavender, were the named securities and her mother and father gave their consents. On March 29, 1786, Hough Carpenter or Hugh Carpinper (actually "Hugh Cavender") of Charlotte County, Virginia, gave his daughter, Sally Comption ("Sally Compton") of Amelia County, Virginia, and the wife of Archibald Compton who was then living in Amelia County, Virginia, a Negro girl slave named, "Ginney" who was about 8 years of age, with future increase. The indenture was witnessed by John White and William Hucheson. ("William Hutchinson"?). There is an additional statement regarding the question of whether, upon Salley Compton's ("Sally Compton") death, the Negro girl slave and her increase should go to her husband or to her children. Note that a John White married Nancy Cavender on March 4, 1796 in Dorchester County, Maryland. On the motion filed by Joseph Cavender in October 1793, the oldest son of Hugh Cavender and the executor of the estate of Hugh Cavender, together with the posting of the required bond in the probate court of Charlotte County, Virginia, a certificate was granted to Joseph Cavender for obtaining probate of the will of his father's estate. Archibald Compton and the brother of Joseph Cavender, James Cavender, posted the required surety bond. Archibald Compton and Sarah Compton had 6 children:
