SECTION 00851 - PAVEMENT MARKING REMOVAL



(Follow all instructions. If there are no instructions above a subsection, paragraph, sentence, or bullet, then include them in the project. The specifications may be modified to include project specific specifications, but all additions, deletions, or modifications must be sent to the ODOT Technical Resource and Senior Specifications Engineer for review and approval.)
Comply with Section 00851 of the Standard Specifications modified as follows:
00851.40  General - In the paragraph that begins "Remove durable and nondurable…", delete the sentence that begins "Remove durable markings by steel…".





SP00865 (2015 Specifications: 07-16-15) (This Section requires SP00850.)



SECTION 00865 - LONGITUDINAL PAVEMENT MARKINGS - DURABLE



(Follow all instructions. If there are no instructions above a subsection, paragraph, sentence, or bullet, then include them in the project. The specifications may be modified to include project specific specifications, but all additions, deletions, or modifications must be sent to the ODOT Technical Resource and Senior Specifications Engineer for review and approval.)
Comply with Section 00865 of the Standard Specifications modified as follows:
00865.45  Installation - Add the following paragraph to the end of the bullet that begins "Method B: Spray Markings…":
Thermoplastic spray markings may be installed in one application at the total specified thickness if approved by the Engineer and after a successful performance test according to 00865.40. Apply spray markings in two applications if installing yellow colored markings over rumble strips.



(Use the following lead-in paragraph and bullets when Method D: Wet Weather Markings are required.)



Add the following bullet and sub-bullets to the end of the bullet list:



Method D: Wet Weather Markings - Apply markings with an extrusion, ribbon, or spray process and according to the following:



For grooved markings, grind the slot depth as shown. Apply the specified marking material into the slot so the slot is filled from edge to edge as shown. The top of the marking shall be flat or slightly convex.

For profiled markings, apply markings with an extrusion or ribbon process. Place lines and bumps straight and square.



(Use the following subsection .90 when including pay items for any of the following:



Pavement Marking Tape

Wet Weather Pavement Marking Tape

Wet Weather Methyl Methacrylate

Wet Weather Thermoplastic)



00865.90  Payment - 



(Use the following paragraph and pay items when pavement marking tape or wet weather pavement marking tape is included in the project. Delete items that do not apply. Remove "s" for the word "items" and remove the word "and" when only one pay item is included. Do not change the alpha characters (e) or (f).)



Replace pay items (e) and (f) with the following pay items:



(e) Pavement Marking Tape, _____, _____ Foot

(f) Pavement Marking Tape, _____, _____, Wet Weather Foot



(Use the following paragraph, heading, and pay items when wet weather methyl methacrylate or wet weather thermoplastic is included in the project. Delete items that do not apply. Remove "s" for the word "items". Do not change the alpha characters (i) or (j).)



Add the following heading and pay items:



Method D (Wet Weather Markings)



(i) Methyl Methacrylate, Wet Weather, _____, _____ Foot

(j) Thermoplastic, Wet Weather, _____, _____ Foot



(Use each of the following four paragraphs when any of the pay items listed in the paragraph are included in the pay items listed above. Delete pay item letters that are not listed above. Remove "s" for the word "items" and remove the word "and" when only one pay item is included.)



Replace the paragraph that begins "In items (e) and (f)…" with the following paragraphs:



In items (e) and (f), “RolledIn” or “Grooved” will be inserted in the first blank and "Patterned" or "NonPatterned" will be inserted in the second blank.



Add the following paragraph after the paragraph that begins "In Items (e) and (f)…":



In items (i) and (j), the word "Surface" or "Grooved" will be inserted in the first blank and the word "Profiled" or "NonProfiled" will be inserted in the second blank.





SP00867 (2015 Specifications: 11-13-14) (This Section requires SP00850.)



SECTION 00867 - TRANSVERSE PAVEMENT MARKINGS - LEGENDS AND BARS



(Follow all instructions. If there are no instructions above a subsection, paragraph, sentence, or bullet, then include them in the project. The specifications may be modified to include project specific specifications, but all additions, deletions, or modifications must be sent to the ODOT Technical Resource and Senior Specifications Engineer for review and approval.)
Comply with Section 00867 of the Standard Specifications modified as follows.
00867.90  Payment – Add the following pay items at the end of the pay item list:
(s) Pavement Bar, Type ____ : Green Bike Lane Markings Square Foot

(t) Pavement Legend, Type ____ : “BIKE” Each

(u) Pavement Legend, Type ____ : Bicycle Sharrow Stencil Each

(v) Pavement Legend, Type ____ : Bicycle Positioning Stencil Each

(w) Pavement Legend, Type ____ : Bicycle Box Each
Delete the sentence beginning with "In items (a) through (r)…" and replace with the following:
In items (a) through (w), the type of pavement marking materials will be inserted in the first blank.

Add the following paragraphs after the paragraph that begins “Item (r) includes…”



Item (u) includes both the bicycle symbol and the chevron arrows placed directly above the bicycle symbol.
Item (v) includes the bicycle stencil and bars above and below the stencil.
Item (w) includes the bicycle symbol, arrow, background, and all of the bars the are required for the Bicycle Box detail as shown in the Plans.
