Objective: Promote the National Park System during their Centennial Celebration year.

Program: Learn about the founding of the National Park System, or a park in your area, and its importance in preserving American treasures.

Suggestions:





  1. Visit a national park.

  2. Discover the significance of the National Park Service and how it was formed.

  3. Read about Teddy Roosevelt and uncover why he believed the NPS was a necessary organization.

  4. Become a Junior Ranger and raise awareness of the importance of conserving the outdoors.

  5. Research different conservation-based organizations in your area.

Objective: Discover the many different diplomatic ways countries formed agreements and treaties.
Program: Learn about the violations of certain treaties that resulted in conflicts or war.

Suggestions:





  1. Present a program about treaties and their effect on American history.

  2. Re-enact the signing of a treaty and teach members about how they are made.

  3. Research how the violations of the Treaty of Paris in 1783 lead to the War of 1812.

  4. Explore important treaties and how they have helped to prevent conflict.

  5. Analyze the Treaty of Versailles and discuss how the violations and the harsh conditions of this treaty led to World War II.

Kids Helping Kids

Objective: Make an impact in your community by partnering with a local aid organization.
Program: Look up how to become more involved in organizations that provide aid to families in need.

Suggestions:





  1. Donate toys to a children's hospital or first aid responders to distribute to accident victims.

  2. Organize a closet shop with your school to donate and provide free clothes to families in need.

  3. Collect and donate school supplies for disadvantaged children.

  4. Contribute to The Princess Project or a similar organization in your community.

  5. Enlist your local DAR, SAR, and S.R. chapters to support a charity like Habitat for Humanity by volunteering and/or donating to their cause.

  6. Participate in a community event such as pancake breakfasts, garage sale fundraisers, Angel Tree Christmas gifts, etc. that helps a family in need.

Objective: Encourage a new member to attend at least two of your local society meetings and involve them in the activities.

Program: Spread the word about C.A.R. and promote it to our parent organizations and communities through fun and interactive presentations.

Suggestions:


  1. Create a society membership brochure that includes the name and contact information for your society to share with interested parties.

  2. Contact your parent organizations to help promote C.A.R. at their meetings.

  3. Encourage everyone to become life members of the organization.

  4. Host a membership party where members can invite their friends and families to help encourage them to join C.A.R.

  5. Raise awareness of C.A.R. by participating in local events and by wearing C.A.R. merchandise to help publicize the organization.

Program: Learn about the Mountain Schools and donate material and financial aid.

Suggestions:


  1. Research the Mountain Schools and why they were created.

  2. Organize a drive where members and seniors can bring supplies to send to the Mountain Schools.

  3. Donate money to receive a Mountain Schools pin at a state, regional, or national event.

  4. Sponsor a Mountain School class during a holiday or special event.

  5. Become a pen pal with a Mountain School student and send letters throughout the year.
