<888> 01/20/14 Monday 11:00 P.M.  I ate the chicken and mashed potato dinner with Smart Balance Spread and extra virgin olive oil on the mashed potatoes and a 12 ounce glass of Schweppes Ginger Ale.  I guess it is my low income diet of not enough meat and more carbohydrates that I have an incredible amount of intestinal gas that some people might notice as I move around the community.  I think it is a Scottish trait, since in the movie Brave Heart about the Scottish fighting the English, they turn around and let loose with a large amount of fart gas.  Whatever it comes from, the people whom work around horses do not seem to mind it.  Possibly my diet of eating oatmeal in the morning like horses produces it.  Maybe that is why the Scottish drink Scotch whisky to get rid of it.  Still it is a problem I am used to, but nobody else seems to want to ever visit me, so I basically live like a trappist monk.  When I lived on isolated islands, there were not as many people around to notice it.  Maybe that is why they got rid of me in Manhattan, since maybe some of the other people in public places noticed it.  CIO

<888> 01/20/14 Monday 9:55 P.M.  I threw out the garbage.  I went downtown, and I went by CVS on Greenwich Avenue.  I picked up a prescription.  I bought two pints of regular Listerine mouthwash for $1.99 each and .25 tax for $4.23 total.  I also bought two 16 ounce bags of CVS salted almonds for $4.50 each for $9 total.  I also bought buy one get one 50% off of Air Wick 6 ounce scent machine refills, one of Island Paradise and one of Virgin Islands for $7.49 and $3.74 and a five pack of Bic Lighters with two orange, two purple, and one red for $7.29 less a $1.46 off with a 20% off coupon  and $1.08 tax for $18.14 total.  I then went further down Greenwich Avenue.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I sat out at various places.  I stopped by Zen Stationary, and I played an Ace's High scratch card for a dollar, but I lost.  I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I played two Ace's High scratch cards for a dollar each, and I lost on both of them.  Where Bang and Olufsen used to be on Greenwich Avenue is now a dress store.  The old China Pavilion restaurant on lower Greenwich Avenue has been remodeled, and it will open on January 25, 2014 as a vegetarian restaurant called "STEAM".  There are also a couple of other new dress shop boutiques on Greenwich Avenue.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I chatted with a local about Florida.  I stopped by and toured CVS again.  After my walk, I stopped by Starbucks again.  I then went by the Stop and Shop, and I bought organic bananas for .99 a pound for $3.21, a package of top round London Broil for $2.99 a pound for $6.28 less $1.50 off manager's coupon, three 24 ounce Simply Mashed mashed potatoes for $1.99 each, buy one get one free of Thomas' English muffin six packs for $4.19 both, a two chicken leg and two thigh and mashed potato dinner for $1.99 for $20.14 total.  I then returned home, and I put away my groceries.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Message from Canadian Prime Minister:

Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on National Non-Smoking Week

January 19, 2014
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement to mark National Non-Smoking Week, taking place from January 19-25, 2014:

Each year, smoking takes a deadly toll on Canadians, with thousands succumbing to heart disease, lung cancer and many other illnesses that it causes. In addition to the physical damage caused by smoke and second-hand smoke, smoking also puts emotional and financial stress on families who are dealing with resulting health problems, and places a substantial financial burden on our communities and healthcare system.

The health of Canadians is a top priority of our Government. This is why, along with provinces, territories, municipalities and other partners, we have taken substantial measures to inform Canadians about the many health risks associated with smoking, to discourage people from starting to smoke and help those who wish to quit.

In the past five years, our Government has taken significant action to help Canadians stay smoke free. These measures include combating the trafficking and cross-border smuggling of contraband tobacco, restricting access to tobacco products, especially for youth, and prohibiting tobacco advertising in daily newspapers and free entertainment weeklies.  We have also introduced new warning labels on cigarette and little cigar packages, which feature a national quitline phone number and web address for those who want to quit.

During this year's National Non-Smoking Week, we are also launching a five-year tobacco cessation marketing campaign aimed at reducing smoking rates by helping young smokers aged 20-24 quit smoking. The "Break It Off" tobacco cessation campaign will use social media to target young Canadians who have a higher rate of smoking than the national average.

While the work our Government has undertaken to eliminate smoking is producing encouraging results, there are still too many Canadians who smoke. That is why we will continue to work with stakeholders across the country to help Canadians become and stay smoke-free.

I wish all Canadians a happy, healthy and smoke-free 2014.”

<888> 01/18/14 Saturday 6:00 A.M.  I have done a little bit of research on http://www.amaana.org/agakhan/bd12.htm on the internet.  Since his family helped start the www.un.org , he has kept a presence in the New York area for a long time.  It says his grandfather had his own state in India, and by today values, his grandfather was worth $165 billion.  Thus if they did not give it all away to charity, more than likely he has other investments in this country.  His roommate at www.harvard.edu was Adlai Stevenson III whose father was at the UN and also ran for President.  Adlai Stevenson's farm area in Libertville, Illinois is now http://www.mettawa.org/ where www.hsbc.com is headquartered in this country.  Thus more than likely somewhere out there in the wood work, he has lawyers, accountants, public relations people, and the other employees that are needed to keep one's house in order. I was told he might have up to 600 different homes worldwide, so he probably travels a lot in his job.  Since he is legally a Swiss Citizen, it is my guess; he might show up at Davos http://www.weforum.org/ this coming week.  I guess if he wanted to show up at the http://www.sochi2014.com/en , that the people from Moscow with the largest number of billionaires in the world might know how to entertain him.  From what I know the last public relations I have read on him in the American Media was about three years ago, when he visited Atlanta and San Antonio.  I will now shut down my primary work computer, and I will go to bed soon.  I ate a ounce of almonds.  I will not eat a Greek yogurt before going to bed.  Yogurt although very expensive, if one buys it in the grocery store, when it is cheaper to make at home, has a lots of enzymes that are good for the digestion.  CIO

If one reads the fine print here http://www.celebheights.com/s/Adolf-Hitler-2572.html , it says Adolph Hitler was 5 foot 2 inches tall.  I once read that Joseph Stalin was 5 foot 6 inches tall, but here https://www.google.com/#q=How+tall+was+Mao+Tse+Tung , it says he was five foot eight inches tall, and Mao Zedong was five foot eleven inches and Vladimir Lenin was five foot five inches.  Here it says Franklin Roosevelt was 6 foot 2 inches tall and some of his associates were shorter.  http://www.catalogs.com/info/bestof/top-10-list-of-famous-tall-men-in-the-white-house .  Aparently North Americans over generation eat more wheat which makes people taller and people in the southern hemisphere eat more corn meal which makes them shorter.  I am not sure what grains the European politicians eat.  They are taller in the Midwest of America, so by Midwest standards at 6 feet tall and 235 pound I am average to smaller.  CIO
