All of the place known as the Collingwood Telephone Exchange, Telstra Corporation exchange site shaded on the attached diagram. This includes the 1922 1 & 2-storey red brick buildings fronting Wellington and Glasgow Streets and the later addition of the 1975 Brutalist concrete exchange buildings to the rear of the site, with sufficient curtilage to maintain unobstructed public views of the building.
The Collingwood Telephone Exchange was nominated on the basis that it satisfies three of the Heritage Council’s criteria for inclusion in the Victoria Heritage Register (Criterion A, D and F).
